The Young and the Restless fans have recently taken issue with CBS. Many are taking to social media to voice their complaints with the network. Notably, this followed a social media post shared by the soap’s Instagram page.

The Young & The Restless Is Part Of CBS’ Lineup Of Daytime Dramas, Including The Bold & The Beautiful And Beyond The Gates

The Young and the Restless has been part of the CBS line-up since 1973. Over the years, the soap has been teamed up with other daytime dramas.

This includes the sister series, The Bold and the Beautiful, as well as a recent addition to the line-up, Beyond the Gates. However, a recent promotion has gotten fans upset.

As previously reported, many of CBS’ soaps are taking a bit of a break. This schedule change is impacting all three aforementioned soaps: The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Beyond the Gates.

The soaps are being preempted by the network’s coverage of March Madness. This meant last week ended each soap with a Wednesday cliffhanger.

No new episodes aired on Thursday, March 20, and Friday, March 21. As this was a national promotion, episodes weren’t available for streaming, either.

The promotion has become an annual tradition. In fact, The Young and the Restless has had a sense of humor about the situation. The Xavier University mascot, the Blue Blob, recently appeared in a video shared on Instagram where he was inserted into a scene in Genoa City.

Genoa City Recently Got A Visit From A Big, Blue Visitor

As the video read, “When March Madness takes over the soap operas,” complete with a cry-laughing emoji. A caption also read, “To be fair, the Blue Blob is irresistible.” The post was shared by The Young and the Restless‘ Instagram page, as well as a few CBS Sports pages.

However, even if fans can expect the March Madness preemptions, that doesn’t mean they’re any happier about it. Some fans took the post to bemoan having to see the soap take a break. A few also wondered why CBS doesn’t use some of their other networks to air the soaps during the promotion.

Of course, some still thought the Blue Blob’s cameo was funny and even appreciated the break. A few comments included:

  • “Never stop making these. While I miss my soaps with the preemption, I love the sketches MS and JM do for sports events.”
  • “Same. Losing two days of Y&R last week was just ugh. I know it’s every March, but at least we get Nick & Phyllis’ shenanigans.”
  • “I always say I hate March madness because it interim Y&R!!!!”
  • “Why does CBS not broadcast the show on their other channels?”
  • “Exactly, they could put it on KCAL 9 for those days ffs..”
  • “Sorry I don’t get it ! Who’s the blue blob and what does it have to do with Y&R ?????”
  • “I hate that! I’m leaving for London today and hopefully when I get back, this mess will be over and I can get back to watching my shows!”
  • “Every year you are sooooooo funny but yes we hate missing our story during this time and thank you for acknowledging that.”

What do you think of the March Madness preemptions? Have you been keeping up with The Young and the Restless? Did you see the Blue Blob in Genoa City? Make sure you come back to TV Shows Ace for all the latest TV and celebrity news.
