Celebrity Clues Are Often Part Of Jeopardy! Games
While celebrity and pop culture questions are more the bread and butter of Pop Culture Jeopardy!, every once in a while, questions involving celebrities and pop culture do end up on the main Jeopardy! game. Every once in a while, celebrities themselves even read the clues, particularly when there is a movie premiere coming up or something else tied to a similar big event.
However, based on recent scenes from the popular game show, fans were livid following a clue that involved controversial rapper and business mogul, Kanye West. So, what was the clue, and why were commenters so upset?
Kanye West Has Been In The Headlines For All The Wrong Reasons
For anyone who has not been keeping up with Kanye West and his recent antics, he often goes on hate-fueled rants on platforms like X/Twitter. Even when he decides to delete a tweet, users are typically able to grab a screenshot. So, nothing is ever truly deleted.
Just in recent updates alone, Kanye West went after his famous ex, Kim Kardashian, as well as the young children of Beyonce and Jay-Z. If that were not enough, people also regularly go after him for his antisemitic rants online as well.
With all of this going on, a recent clue on Jeopardy! highlighted the controversial figure. Ken Jennings recently read the clue: “The title of his album, 808s and Heartbreak, refers to the death of his mother, Donda, and to the Roland TR-808 used on the songs.” The correct answer to this clue was: “Who is Kanye West?”
Jeopardy! Fans Livid Over Kanye West Clue
Because of the firestorm that Kanye West has been causing online with all of his recent antics, many viewers are outraged that Jeopardy! decided to use the controversial celeb in one of the clues, particularly due to his antisemitic comments that he frequently makes.
While Kanye’s antics often keep him in the headlines, and even though his unpredictability factor certainly keeps people tuning in just to see what he might do next, the fact that a show like Jeopardy! regularly uses him as clues is not sitting right with a lot of viewers, especially in light of some of his recent comments.
- In response to this, many Jeopardy! fans are outraged, with one person writing: “That’s the fourth Kanye clue this year.”
- A second person chimed in, adding: “That Kanye question needed a note saying the clue was recorded before he declared himself a literal N*zi.”
- A third person pondered: “Makes me wonder how far ahead of time they write the clues.”
