‘Live’ Mark Consuelos Says Inheritance Not Going To Kids

Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa have had quite a prominent career over the years, from soap operas to their own talk show. Recently, in a discussion of end-of-life issues, Consuelos revealed that he’s not leaving his fortune to his kids. However, the star is still planning on keeping things in the family.
Live With Kelly & Mark Recently Discussed A Famous Inheritance Story
Consuelos famously first met while working on All My Children. Not only did the two play each other’s love-interests, the two eloped in 1996.
In 2023, Ripa and Consuelos would become co-hosts on Live with Kelly and Mark. With Ripa having joined the series in the early 2000s, Consuelos had previously served as a co-host beforehand.

In addition, Consuelos has appeared in a variety of other television shows. This includes Riverdale, American Horror Story: Asylum, and Queen of the South.
During a recent episode of their talk show, Ripa and Consuelos talked about inheritance. Notably, Ripa believed it was possible for pets to “inherit your estate.”
However, Consuelos noted it was usually more complicated than that. As he explained, “You know pet bequests have been known to be challenged in court, sometimes successfully.”
As noted by Decider, Ripa then cited late hotel heiress Leona Helmsley leaving $12 million to her dog, Trouble. Consuelos read the story, noting, “And since pets are considered in all U.S. states property, you can’t actually leave… wait,” Ripa chimed in, “Yes, it’s important to read the article before you…”
Ripa & Consuelos Are Known For Their Love For Their Pets
Consuelos continued, “Pet bequests have known to be challenged sometimes successfully by disinherited heirs. And since pets are considered in all U.S. states property, you can’t leave them money.” Ripa added, “You can’t leave your property to property.”
However, Consuelos still appeared to like the idea. Despite the story, he shared, “I’m leaving everything to Lena,” referring to his and Ripa’s pet dog.

The Riverdale actor noted, “Because you know you want to skip the kids. What is that? Generational skipping? Save all the taxes? Generational skipping?” He also claimed, “Lena will appreciate it…much more than our kids will appreciate it.”
Ripa joked that this was a “great plan.” As if she were suddenly on board with the idea, she joked, “I love that plan. I can’t wait. You know what? Let’s just cut to the court battle. Let’s hire the attorneys now.”
Ripa and Consuelos are known for their love of their pets. As previously reported, the Live with Kelly and Mark co-hosts endured the loss of their eldest dog, Chewie, back in February. At the time, Consuelos noted the loss was “probably one of the toughest things that we’ve had to do as a married couple.”
Whether Consuelos’ estate is left to his kids or his pets, it can be worth quite the pretty penny. According to Celebrity Net Worth, his net worth is estimated to be around $40 million.
