‘Pawn Stars’ Rick Harrison Gives Details About Son’s Tragic Death

Rick Harrison has been the main star of Pawn Stars on The History Channel since 2009. This means fans have watched him for over 15 years now, and this includes seeing his family. In 2024, fans learned the horrific news that his son Adam Harrison died from a drug overdose. In a recent interview, Rick has opened up about his son’s death and how it has affected his life in a scary way.
Here is what Rick had to say about his son’s death and what the loss has done to make him less sure about anything happening in his own life.
Pawn Star‘s Rick Harrison Opens Up About Son’s Death
Rick Harrison was part of a large interview about his life. He spoke about his time on Pawn Stars and his reality TV career. He also went in depth about his son, Adam, who died last year at the age of 39. During this part of the interview, Rick really looked deep inside himself and broke down what this death had done to him.

Adam Harrison died from a drug overdose of fentanyl in January 2024. Rick, 59, talked about his son’s death and what it really meant to him in an interview on In Depth with Graham Bensinger this week (via YouTube).
“I think about him every day,” Rick said when talking about Adam. “In his 20s, he had drug problems. I mean, God, I put him in rehab so many times, and every time he’d be doing great, and then he would just fall back.” He admitted that a million people tell the same story. He said it got bad, and it wasn’t heroin that killed his son; it was Fentanyl.
Rick and his wife Kim have two other sons (Corey and Jake) as well as three daughters. Now, Rick looks at his surviving kids, and he says that Adam’s death has him always worried about things and not taking anything for granted.
Pawn Star‘s Rick Harrison Says Son’s Death Has Him Second-Guessing Everything
“The thing is, when you lose a kid, you second guess f—ing everything,” Rick said in the interview. “It’s like, ‘Could I have done this? Could I have done this? Could I have done this? Could I have done this?’ And it’s like it goes through your brain constantly. There’s not a day I don’t [think] about him.”
Rick said that he thinks that he did everything right. However, his son is dead, so he can’t convince himself that he couldn’t have done something different to keep him alive. He said he would ask himself if he could have just taken Adam away to somewhere where he couldn’t get any drugs. “I mean, you have a hundred things go through your mind. There is nothing worse than losing a kid.”
Rick also mentioned a time when Adam broke into his house. He felt that if he had Adam locked him up in jail for a couple of months, it could have helped him clean up. He said it was tough love, but he never saw the OD coming. “It’s hard. There’s no instruction book with kids. They’re all different models.”
