‘NCIS’: Season 22 Fan Favorite, LL Cool J Returns
LL Cool J is making his return to NCIS. The rapper and actor notably shared the news with fans on social media. Notably, one of the franchise’s other actors previously hinted that fans would soon be seeing a familiar face return to the franchise.
LL Cool J Shared His NCIS Return In A Joint Post On Instagram
James Todd Smith, better known by his stage name, LL Cool J, is a rapper who started his career in the 1980s. Over the years, he has notably won the Grammy Award twice for his work in music.
Over the years, LL Cool J has also branched out into film and television. Notably, he has appeared in Halloween H20, S.W.A.T., Mindhunters, Last Holiday, and Edison. He also served as a host and producer for Lip Sync Battle.
In addition, however, LL Cool J is also known for his fan-favorite role of NCIS Special Agent Sam Hanna in various NCIS properties. This includes shows like NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: Hawaiʻi.
On Instagram, the rapper revealed he would be returning to the role. In a joint post with CBS and NCIS‘ Instagram pages, a caption read, “Like no time has passed.”
An accompanying video opened up with the rapper wiping a fogged-up screen. LL Cool J then came into view and shared, “That’s better. Back on set, baby! NCIS. Let’s get it.” Notably, a logo reading NCIS: Most Wanted could be seen in the background.
LL Cool J’s return was likely hinted at earlier this month in an interview with Brian Dietzen, who plays the NCIS character, Dr. Jimmy Palmer. Speaking with TV Insider, he confirmed there would be returning characters to the franchise.

Dietzen noted, “In fact, I just worked with one, and I’m not allowed to tell you. But I’ll tell you it’s someone from NCIS‘s past, and it’s going to be fantastic, and I think people are really going to lose their s**t.”
NCIS executive producer Steven D. Binder previously talked to the publication about bringing characters back into the show. He noted, “With a long-running show, we think in longer terms than we might normally; if we were wondering if we were going to come back, all these things would be happening in the next five episodes, but we’re thinking a little longer. So, if not this season, the next.”

On LL Cool J’s more recent joint post, many fans shared they were happy to see him return to the franchise. A few fans even shared the hope that other NCIS characters, and even shows, they liked could be making a comeback. Some comments included:
