Notably, the publication wasn’t being generous. A few other shows on the lineup were listed as “Could Go Either Way” when it came to possible renewals.

In addition, it seems like the series is doing well in the ratings. It has currently pulled in around 4.6 million viewers with a 0.43 rating in the demo.

It also helps that Tim Allen is known for his long-running sitcoms. Home Improvement lasted from 1991 to 1999. Similarly, Last Man Standing lasted from 2011 to 2021. Notably, the latter show also saw a switch in networks, going to Fox after finishing its ABC run.

Seeing the show resonate with fans, Allen also talked about filiming in front of a live audience. According to USA Today, Allen shared, “Back in the day, this is how it was, you rehearsed it and shot it in front of real people, and I love that.”

“In the movies, OK maybe I make the crew bust up, but that’s it. Doing ‘Shifting Gears,’ I get to aim for the whole audience plus the crew. There’s nothing like it.”
