ABC isn’t airing The Bachelorette during the spring/summer schedule like usual. The spinoff was put on pause after controversy surrounding Season 21 contestants. Bachelor Nation alum Ben Higgins spills what show is replacing it. Keep reading to find out what show to add to your watch list.

New Bachelorette Season Not Airing This Summer

ABC has yet to reveal the TV schedule for the rest of the year. However, it was confirmed in February that The Bachelorette isn’t airing in its usual Monday night time slot. The show was unexpectedly put on pause and will skip at least one cycle, maybe more.

The popular spinoff debuted in 2003 after the success of The Bachelor. It has aired every year except for 2006 and 2007. But the scandals surrounding Jenn Tran’s season were reportedly at least part of the reason for the pause.

Another Bachelor Nation alum, Maria Georgas, claimed she was offered the Bachelorette role first and Jenn only got it because she turned it down. Then the sketchy pasts of several Season 21 contestants were unearthed. The season was already a hot mess by the time Jenn Tran and Devin Strader broke up almost immediately after getting engaged.

Ben Higgins Reveals What ABC Is Airing Instead

Ben Higgins is one of the franchise’s most popular Bachelor leads. Viewers fell in love with him when he was a contestant on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of The Bachelorette. He didn’t find a wife on his season of The Bachelor. He’s since found love with Jessica Clarke and is now a father.

Due to his popularity, Ben Higgins still has strong ties to Bachelor Nation. He co-hosts the Almost Famous podcast with fellow alum Ashley Iaconetti. They spilled a lot of details they heard through the grapevine about why The Bachelorette was put on pause. They even heard rumors about ABC’s plans to replace The Bachelorette in the TV schedule.

Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti heard that a popular new Hulu show that recently debuted on ABC is taking over the time slot previously held by The Bachelorette.

ABC hasn’t officially confirmed the news, but according to Ben and Ashley, The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives will air this spring and summer to replace The Bachelorette.

What Is The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives?

The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives is a reality show that was created specifically for Hulu. It follows several Mormon couples as they live their daily lives. The idea for the show came after several Mormon moms gained fame as part of TikTok’s “MomTok.”  Some viewers compare it to TLC’s Sister Wives.

The first season was an unexpected hit for the streamer. ABC and Hulu are both owned by Disney. The show was so popular and in demand that the first season aired on ABC starting in January on Monday nights after The Bachelor. The season one finale aired earlier this month. It was quickly renewed and season two is reportedly already finished filming.

Season 2 is reportedly set for early May on Hulu. Again, ABC hasn’t confirmed, but it’s possible that the show will either air on ABC at the same time as Hulu or shortly after. Since The Bachelorette usually starts airing in July, Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives would replace it on the schedule.

Do you think the success of the Hulu show could be the reason ABC put The Bachelorette on pause? Let us know in the comments.
