Metal Singer Blasts Ozzy Osbourne’s Farewell Tour As A Scam
News had come out that Ozzy Osbourne was set to make his farewell tour with members of Black Sabbath. However, another metal singer has spoken out about the promotion. Notably, the performer mentioned a previous time working with Ozzy.
Ozzy Osbourne Was Set To Reunite With Other Members Of Black Sabbath For One Last Show
Ozzy was previously announced to be making his final tour appearance earlier this year. At the time, it was announced he would be reuniting with other members of Black Sabbath.
However, since the announcement, another singer has recently spoken out about the promotion: Glenn Danzig. Notably, the discussion came up in a few recent interviews with the metal singer.
Glenn Danzig is a singer known for founding a variety of rock bands. This includes Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig. In addition, he owns the Evilive record label.
As noted by NJ.com, Glenn shared that he was finished with recording music and touring, outside of a few shows on the West Coast, in an interview with Full Metal Jackie back in February. He later shared a few choice words about final tours with 96.7 KCAL-FM host Radioactive MikeZ.
At the time, Glenn was asked about his thoughts on having his own big final show, before discussing Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s final show. He shared that this isn’t the first time Ozzy has been involved with a final show.
Glenn mused, “I mean, I remember when Danzig went out with Ozzy, that was supposed to be his final tour,” which caused him to laugh. He continued, “And then he’s done a bunch of final tours since then.”
Glenn Danzig Wasn’t Too Fond Of ‘Farewell’ Tours
Glenn also mentioned that other bands, such as Motley Crue and KISS, continued to tour after their original “farewell” tours were finished. As the publication noted, Motley Crue offered a “Farewell Tour” back in 2015 in Los Angeles, both eventually resumed touring. Meanwhile, KISS had a second farewell tour that ended in 2023, despite an earlier one in 2001.
Glenn mused, “If it’s gonna be final, it should be final. If you say, it’s gonna be final… You’ll see all these bands [announcing what they say will be] the last tour, and then they’re back again two years later. And it’s kind of a scam, I think. So, when it’s final, and if I say it’s final, it’ll be final.”
As noted by Blabber Mouth, Glenn also discussed his own upcoming shows. As he shared, “Right now, pretty much what I’ve said is kind of what I’m doing. I don’t really tour anymore. I’ll do a string of shows, which I don’t consider a tour. If it’s, like, you know, six to 10 shows, I don’t really consider that a tour.”
“Where you’re hitting every city in the United States or in Germany or Europe or Scandinavia, wherever you’re going. That’s a tour.”
As for Ozzy and Black Sabbath, they will headline “Back to the Beginning” on July 5 at Villa Park. Osbourne will reunite with Tony lommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward.
