American Idol has returned with Season 23, complete with a new line of hopeful idols-in-the-making. One singer auditioning for the show this season is Landry Champlin. Fans are already wanting to know more about this new contestant.

Landry Champlin Sang A Song One Of The American Idol Judges Knew Well

Explaining a little about herself, Champlin noted that she was a pageant coach in her everyday life. As she shared, “So I competed in the Miss America organization for a long time. I’ve been coaching for about a year now.” This caused the judges to jokingly ask if Luke Bryan was in a pageant.

Carried Underwood asked Champlin about her musical inspirations. This caused her to share, “I’m looking at her, right here. I grew up singing all of your music.”

In fact, Champlin revealed that she was going to sing one of Underwood’s songs for her audition. She then proceeded to sing Underwood’s 2012 release, “Good Girl.”

Notably, Underwood began singing along at certain points. Towards the end, the judges started clapping along. By the end, Champlin admitted, “That is the coolest thing that ever happened to me.”

However, it was then time for the big moment. Ultimately, all three judges gave her their stamp of approval. As they shared, “You’re going to Hollywood!”

Champlin Talked About Her Journey To Hollywood On Instagram

Later on Instagram, Champlin shared that, “I’m going to Hollywood!!!” In the accompanying photos, she could be seen holding a Golden Ticket while striking different poses.

Champlin continued, “I owe the BIGGEST thank you to [Lionel Richie], [Luke Bryan], and [Carrie Underwood]!! This is SO surreal and I am beyond thankful for this experience and every single person who made it possible!! Hollywood, here we come!!”

In a later post, Champlin teased, “And the journey begins.” She continued, “I am just so SO grateful!! This was by far the most surreal (and beyond nerve racking) experience I have ever had!! Thank you to every single person that made this possible! This is truly the definition of LIVING FEARLESSLY! Let’s go to HOLLYWOOD!!”

According to Southlake Style, Champlin was said to be from Colleyville and had been a fromer Miss Southlake. She was also said to have previously been named Miss Colleyville and Miss Plano. Back in 2022, she was said to have Overall Talent and a $1,000 scholarship while performing Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life” during the preliminary rounds for Miss Texas and Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen competitions.

According to the publication, Champlin is based in New York City. She was also said to be actively involved with musical theater. This included runs with “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” in Florida and “Rock of Ages” in Connecticut. She was also said to have produced an Elvis Presley show in New York.
