Baylen Dupree Offended By Social Media Trend

For years, Baylen Dupree has shared her life via social media. She has a huge TikTok following and that is where she has shared the ups and downs of having Tourette syndrome. Baylen will make videos about shopping or cooking while battling horrible tics. Her honesty and transparency about her neurological disorder have made fans love and appreciate her even more. She is showing the harsh reality of Tourette’s but that it does not define someone, least of all her. From her fame, she landed her very own TLC reality series, Baylen Out Loud.

Viewers got to meet Baylen, her parents, and her five siblings in the new show. They were also introduced to her boyfriend of two years, Colin Dooley, and saw how their relationship worked. A big issue for Baylen was she wanted to be more independent and leave her parents. However, they were worried that her tics would be too much for that. By the end of the season, she was living with and engaged to Colin. Although not everyone thinks that she is capable of living independently, Baylen wants to prove everyone wrong. Unfortunately, a new social media trend has emerged and she finds it highly offensive.

As it turns out, the trend revolves around people copying and mimicking her tics. Baylen Dupree noticed this when her TLC series first began and does not care for this. She already has had to combat viewers thinking her tics are fake so this is the last thing she would want. Baylen addressed those who were doing this. First, she thanked everyone for their support but then explained it was “offensive” to mimic someone else’s tics. More so, it could make hers even worse.

Not A Good Look

Baylen Dupree wanted to make it clear that Tourette’s is not a joke and not something to mock or mimic. Furthermore, she reminded followers that it is something very difficult that she lives and deals with on a daily basis. Finally, she once again thanked everyone for their Baylen Out Loud support but reiterated it is not right to mock her. Her fans and followers who saw Baylen’s message were incredibly supportive and wanted her to know how beloved she is:

  • You are loved ignore the haters
  • you are so brave to go out and educate people about tourette syndrome ❤️❤️
  • I’m so sorry that this behavior is offensive to you and happy that you put it out there.
  • Thank you for calling out bad behavior! It’s atrocious that people would mimic you, but our world is in a very ugly place. Keep shining! ❤️🙌

Some did note that they would find themselves saying some of her unique tics but it was unintentional. They just liked her so much and could not help themselves. The general message is to do better and be more empathetic beings.
