Taken at a Basketball Game is coming to Lifetime. The movie, which shows a father trying to save his daughter after she is mysteriously abducted at a basketball game, already has fans buzzing. In particular, many fans are wondering if the upcoming Lifetime film is based on real events.

A Bonding Event Goes Horribly Wrong In Lifetime’s Taken At A Basketball Game

The film stars D.B. Woodside as Wayne Edwards. The character has a strained relationship with his estranged daughter Robyn, played by Claire Qute. Wanting to bond, Wayne takes her to a basketball game to watch their favorite team play.

However, things take a dark turn when Robyn goes to a restroom and doesn’t come back. To Wayne’s horror, he realizes his daughter has been kidnapped.

Wayne finds himself on a mission to save his daughter before it’s too late. However, time is of the essence in a stadium packed with thousands of people.

Woodside is an American actor who has become known for a variety of television roles over the years. Some of his shows include 24, Lucifer, Parenthood, Suits, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Moni Ogunsuyi is also attached to the film. Other actors include Megan Hutchings, Duff Zayonce, L.A. Sweeney, Kurtis Sanheim, Reamoon Joshee, and Alex Finlay.

A Trailer For Taken At A Basketball Game Came Out In February

To promote the film, Lifetime released a clip on its Instagram page. The post came with the caption, “They’ve done it before.” The clip shows Woodside’s character reacting in horror as he watches what unfolds on security footage.

Another post featured a poster for the film. This came with the tagline, “Fear becomes reality for Wayne when his daughter goes missing.”

According to Blavity News, “The project is produced by Neshama Entertainment in association with MarVista Entertainment. Keith Nietupski, Larry Grimaldi, Hannah Pillemer and Fernando Szew executive produce for MarVista.”

“Arnie Zipursky, Dayna Zipursky and Suzanne Berger executive produce for Neshama. Ruba Nadda is the director. The script was written by Richard Blaney & Gregory Small.”

With such a thriller, many Lifetime fans are wondering if the story is based on real events. After all, a few Lifetime movies are based on things that actually happened. Even ones that weren’t directly based on a true story often could be inspired by a current event.

As for this latest Lifetime movie, the Lifetime website notes that the story was indeed “inspired by real events.” However, this did not go much further than that.

A trailer for the film also hints at the film being based on actual happenings. Notably, the trailer also notes that the film was “inspired by real events,” with the story “ripped from the headlines.” The film will premiere on Saturday, March 15 on Lifetime at 8 PM
