New TLC Show Jay And Pamela Already A Hit With Fans
When it comes to a network like TLC, which continuously pushes the envelope with the type of content they make, viewers never quite know what crazy scenario they are going to cook up next to be the subject of their next reality hit. As viewers have already seen, the network is banking on their new show, Jay And Pamela.
Jay And Pamela follows the lives of Jay Manuel and his fiancé, Pamela Chavez. The engaged pair both have a condition called osteogenesis imperfecta type 3. This is a condition that causes brittle bones, which, naturally, presents a lot of challenges in everyday life, which TLC documents with this new series.
Jay Manuel Is Also A Trans Man
Adding another layer to this new Jay And Pamela show, Jay Manuel is also a trans man. This is something else to navigate as the pair showcase their relationship, as well as their condition.
Jay also opened up about being a transgender man, saying: “Something a lot of people don’t know about me is I am a transgender man. Once I started to realize that I was actually a guy, was probably somewhere in high school. I just didn’t have the words to articulate how I felt. I’ve been out to my family for over five years now and I’m just really grateful that I have, you know, a great partner and my parents are accepting off the bat.”
Viewers are getting to know these two as they dig into Jay And Pamela episodes. So, it will be interesting to see how the show does as the series continues. In many ways, however, TLC is checking a lot of boxes with this show, and it seems to have all the pieces to potentially make it a huge success.

With Jay Manuel opening up about being a trans man, naturally, a lot of Jay And Pamela fans are curious about what he looked like before he made the transition.
Speaking about being his authentic self, Jay said: “I feel like there’s nothing more powerful, at least for me, than sharing your truth and being who you are, and, of course, sharing it on this big of a platform. It’s way different than within the realm of just people that you kind of know. However, I think there’s something to say about just leaning into who you are and that authenticity, and I feel like that’s something that will be seen just throughout the show. It’s not even just the transgender aspect of things but just being authentic to who we are as a whole, and everything that encompasses us as people.”
