Could Emily Wickersham Return to ‘NCIS’ & Reunite Bishop & Nick In One Episode?
Ever since the recent Brian Dietzen reveal that there will be a mind-blowing NCIS Season 22 episode with a previous castmember returning, viewers have been fancasting who it could be. While many surmise it could be Michael Weatherly or Cote de Pablo, who are both starring in the the new NCIS: Tony & Ziva, it seems possible, but not in the shocking category. Besides, both have returned after leaving the series. Both were big surprises and not expected.
As for Mark Harmon, it seems unlikely that anyone would spoil his return. More than likely, if he were returning to the Mothership, very few people would know this, just like with Weatherly and Cote. Moreover, there would be no spoiler. They would want to make this a big shocker.
However, there seems to be someone who has not returned since they left. Moreover, her return fits in with the current Torres romance with Knight’s sister. That would be Emily Wickersham.
This is why she seems to be the most likely return that Dietzen was so excited about, and why this is the right time for Ellie Bishop to return.
NCIS Season 22 Has Focused On Nick Torres’ Love Life
NCIS Season 22 has included a cornucopia of storylines. They include Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) returning to the team, the mysterious Lily, and Nick Torres looking for love. A few episodes ago, it was revealed that Nick was dating Jessica’s sister, much to her chagrin. He has a drawer at Robin Knight’s place. But, is he ready to give away his heart?
Nick has never been the same since Ellie Bishop left the team four seasons ago, at the end of Season 18. Nick and Ellie were the “will they or won’t they” couple. With the exception of Tony and Ziva, this was the biggest couple in the series. After she left, Nick was still pining. Yes, there is Palmer and Knight, but that story is still playing out.
Therefore, It seems possible that as this is the season that Nick is looking for love, he needs some resolution to Ellie leaving him and breaking his heart. He needs closure to move on.
Could Emily Wickersham possibly return to reprise her role? That seems plausible. But, Wickersham has not revealed any clues on whether she is coming back. But, some fans could consider one action a clue in itself.

Last summer, Emily Wickersham was on Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch podcast. She spoke to Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo about her her exit. It turns out, a month after she left the show, she found out she was pregnant.
Your life is all NCIS when you’re on that show. It’s all day, every day, and you’re not really left with much time to do many things outside of that. So that was a real adjustment for me.
I was ready to leave the show. It was time and I was redy to move on to something else, and I guess that [motherhood] was the something else I was meant to move on to. So it was good.
Emily Wickersham has not been in any other role since Bishop.
