Former talk show host Wendy Williams has been living in an assisted living facility under her current guardianship. However, the star’s family recently got into trouble with the facility, who filed a police report against her niece. Notably, this comes out despite claims Williams is free to come and go as she pleases from the facility.

The Coterie Reportedly Contacted The NYPD After Wendy Williams Went Out To Dinner With Her Niece

Following a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, the former host of The Wendy Williams Show has been living in a New York City assisted living facility. Identified as the Coterie, Williams has been living there for the past eight months. In addition, she was said to be living on the memory unit.

Recently, Williams was able to leave the facility to go to the hospital. At the time, it was noted she was escorted by police to an ambulance. While there, Williams also notably aced a competency exam.

As shared by TMZ, Williams was accompanied by her niece, Alex Finnie, as she returned to the Coterie from the hospital. According to the publication, Finnie took her aunt out to dinner at an Italian restaurant.

Sources connected to Williams reportedly told the publication that the Coterie contacted the New York Police Department. It was said they filed a police report alleging Finnie evaded staff when she escorted Williams out of the facility.

Alex Finnie Previously Appeared With Her Famous Aunt During Her Interview With The Breakfast Club

As the publication noted, this seems to contradict earlier reports that Williams cannot leave her floor without an attendant helping her use an elevator. In addition, an attendant was said to have accompanied Williams and her niece down to the lobby and even helped them into their Uber drive.

In addition, as TMZ reported, this also contradicts earlier claims by Williams’ guardian’s lawyer that the star is free to come and go as she pleases. Added to that, it was also previously claimed that there were no restrictions concerning family visits.

As previously reported, Williams herself previously shared an update on her recent hospital visit with the radio podcast series, The Breakfast Club. At the time, Williams’ caregiver Ginalisa Monterroso wrote a letter to Adult Protective Services on Williams’ behalf. Monterroso also contacted the police who escorted Williams out of the building.

At the time, Williams shared, “I am not incapacitated, as I’ve been accused. And this floor that I live on is the memory unit. The people who live there don’t remember anything unlikely me. Like, why am I here? What is going on?”

As previously reported, Finnie had appeared with her aunt during an interview with The Breakfast Club to discuss her current situation. In addition, Finnie has also previously talked about her aunt on social media. In a pinned post on Instagram, she shared a photo of her sitting with her aunt.
