This fresh season is also the first season of the show to feature previous winner and fan-favorite Carrie Underwood in the chair as a judge.

There has been a lot of hype surrounding Carrie Underwood joining the show. With Katy Perry leaving, production needed a big win, especially to continue to compete with other reality singing competitions like The Voice, and securing Carrie Underwood as a judge is exactly the kind of move that was needed, and already, it’s paying off big time.

Ryan Seacrest, Lionel Richie, And Luke Bryan Also Returned

Along with welcoming Carrie Underwood as the newest member of the American Idol judging panel, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan both returned to their posts as well. Following the departure of Katy Perry, Bryan expressed his uncertainty over his future with the franchise.

However, it looks like executives realized that they had something good, and did not want to risk losing either Luke Bryan or Lionel Richie. Of course, despite also becoming the new host of Wheel Of Fortune, Ryan Seacrest also returned to his American Idol hosting duties, which fans everywhere have been grateful to see.

American Idol Season 23 Judge Salaries Revealed

Even without digging into the numbers, keeping an all-star panel of American Idol judges on staff certainly doesn’t come cheap, especially when you are bringing someone like Carrie Underwood into the fold. With this new season underway, many fans are curious about just how much the show is shelling out to keep these stars around.

It turns out, keeping this panel together does not come cheap. Lionel Richie takes home a respectable $10M per season, while Luke Bryan earns slightly more than that, taking home a cool $12M for his efforts and expertise as one of the top country artists in the game today.

According to the latest estimates, American Idol is paying new judge, Carrie Underwood, anywhere from $10M to $12.5M, which is certainly not a bad range, especially not for a first-time judge.

Of course, there is also Ryan Seacrest. Even though he is not one of the judges, he has the vital role on American Idol of making sure that the broadcast runs smoothly, and it’s a safe bet in his capable hands. For this, the program shells out $12M per year.
