Mystery 101 Star Starts Speculation That New Hallmark Regime Could Revive Hit Mystery Series

In February, Kristoffer Polaha spent the month doing all sorts of fan-friendly fun. This included an IG Story of him talking to his Mystery 101 costar, Jill Wagner. At the end of the month, Polaha pretty much reinvigorated the hope of Sleuthers by talking about the possibility that the series could potentially return now that the has been a major management shakeup at Hallmark Media. What did he say?

In the video, Kris started, “I gotta be honest….not to put this into the water. There’s been some changes at Hallmark, lately. I don’t know if you heard?” Jill shakes her head, “No.”

Polaha continued. “There’s been some shifts. You never know. It was the highest-rated show they’ve had as a mystery.” At this, Jill nodded her head.

This is the first time that the stars of the series have expressed any sort of hope that Mystery 101 could possibly be back since the network’s social media person revealed that the series was done in April 2023. The show ended without resolving a very upsetting cliffhanger. This has upset Sleuthers worldwide, as the series does very well internationally. Now, it seems that the major front office change made in January could mean that the series could return.

Hallmark Media has not said anything about this. They never said anything about the cancelation either. But, was it really canceled? Could they un-cancel the mystery series? Some Sleuthers may remember that the network canceled The Gourmet Detective. However, they un-canceled it and filmed the final episode, Roux The Day. So, there is certainly a possibility. Kristoffer Polaha is not the only one who would love to see this happen.

Mystery 101 Screenwriter John Christian Plummer Would Love To Write More Episodes

This week, Mystery 101 screenwriter John Christian Plummer was on the Hallmark Mysteries & More podcast. Host Eric Rutin mentioned the IG Stories with Kristoffer Polaha and Jill Wagner. Although JCP did not see the social media, he seemed quite happy to see this sort of momentum happening.

Firstly, he assured Eric that he “Loved that show.” Also, he added, “It was my show you know, so I would be incredibly delighted to do more Mystery 101.” He pointed out, “They’re right you know. There have been some changes there, and you know, I never never say never.”

But, what about his eighth-episode revelation? Plummer had shared what his plan was for the eighth movie. He shrugged that concern and pointed out that there were many places to take that cliffhanger. He could easily come up with a dozen different ways to write a new story for an eighth movie. Moreover, he would want to do a different story since this first idea has already been shared.

Therefore, it seems that some of the principal components would be willing to make another Mystery 101. Will the new Hallmark Media team make this happen? Sleuthers, would you like to see Mystery 101 return?

    1. Count me among the many who would love to see Mystery 101 series on again. I rarely watch Hallmark now. I check the info channel to see what’s on and have caught the weekend marathons.
I watch Jill Wagner movies when I see them as well as all Ryan Peavey movies and hope you bring him back
Haven’t worn my Hallmark Christmas jersey in 2 years

    2. It was SO DISRESPECTFUL of Hallmark to dump the series— and it’s FANS.

Mystery 101 was the best series Hallmark offered. PERIOD. Instead of the usual superficial plots, Mystery 101 offered interesting characters who were intelligent and thoughtful and who reflected MANY viewers who try to think things out before we act. We watch Hallmark Mystery because we want something more than the immature, racing around, constantly in trouble characters that fill most of the mindless TV drivel.

PLEASE BRING MYSTERY 101 Back! We miss the well thought-out scripts!

      Thank you.
