Hallmark made a big announcement on Saturday. The network announced that the cable channel will premiere The Chicken Sisters Season 1. Starring Lea Thompson, Wendie Malick, Schuyler Fisk, and Genevieve Angelson, the multi-generational drama first premiered on Hallmark+ back in September. The network promised that the original streaming productions would eventually air on the OG, and they have delivered on that promise.

However, what does this mean for Season 2?

Hallmark Announces The Chicken Sisters Season 1 Cable Premiere

On Saturday, Hallmark’s social media revealed that The Chicken Sisters Season 1 is premiering on Sunday, March 30, taking over the When Calls The Heart time slot. That series premieres the Season 12 finale episode on Sunday, March 23. This means the series that is based on the KJ Dell’Antonia best-selling novel will compete against GAF’s When Hope Calls Season 2, now starring Cindy Busby and Christopher Russell.

This series includes a collection of talented stars including Lea Thompson, Wendie Malick, Schuyler Fisk, and Genevieve Angelson. In addition, Ektor Rivera, James Kot, Rukiya Bernard also star, with Margo Martindale as the show’s narrator.

This series is about two competing fried chicken restaurants, Mimi’s and Frannie’s. The two restaurants were started two generations ago, by two former best friends. Now, the town of Merinac is divided on which chicken restaurant they support.

However, when the reality series Kitchen Clash comes to Merinac, the rivals do anything they can to win. But, this causes some truths to come out, as well as delicious meals to be served.

What About The Chicken Sisters Season 2?

Those fans who have already watched The Chicken Sisters Season 1 on Hallmark+ may want to know if the network has announced Season 2. As of Sunday, Hallmark has not renewed the series. Although it has been listed in a cornucopia of industry production sites, the network has not made an announcement. According to the ACFC West Union page, they start production on April 7. This runs into early July.

Hallmark has not said anything yet. Some content curators surmise that the network may not know where the series will go once it is filmed. The network has not streamed original scripted series on the streaming channel in 2025. Will that change? They may be making a decision now.

However, fans should expect some news in the upcoming month.

Lea Thompson Directing Some Episodes Of Hallmark Series

What is really exciting about The Chicken Sisters Season 2 is that Lea Thompson is listed as one of the directors. She has directed some fantastic episodes including two memorable episodes of Star Trek: Picard. However, Sleuthers know her directorial work from two episodes of her former mystery series Jane Doe. She directed Eye Of The Beholder and The Harder They Fall.

Hopefully, the Spencer Sisters star will share some BTS scenes from her Chicken Sisters directorial debut. That is assuming that Hallmark officially renews the series.
