Soap fans want to see Shemar Moore on Beyond The Gates. Could he return to his soap roots and join the show after CBS canceled S.W.A.T. again?

Shemar Moore Begs Netflix To Save S.W.A.T.

Shemar Moore has been a familiar face on TV for decades. In addition to all his other acting credits, he played Derek Morgan on the CBS hit show Criminal Minds. He played the popular part from 2005 until 2016. He left the show after over a decade to pursue other acting opportunities.

It didn’t take long for him to find a new gig. The procedural drama S.W.A.T. premiered on CBS in 2017 with Shemar Moore as the main star. The show follows Sergeant Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson and his SWAT team as they solve crimes.

The show was unexpectedly canceled after six seasons. However, CBS reversed the decision almost immediately after major backlash from fans. The show returned for a shortened Season 7, which was supposed to be its last. However, with the encouragement of Shemar Moore, fans again convinced CBS to save the show. It was granted an eighth season.

Unfortunately, it looks like eight seasons is enough for CBS. Shemar Moore took to Instagram earlier this week to share the heartbreaking news that S.W.A.T. had been canceled once again.

It doesn’t seem likely that CBS will change their minds and renew the show again. But Shemar Moore isn’t giving up hope. In another social media video, he begged Netflix to pick up the show. “Netflix if you’re interested in a show that is on autopilot, that the world is watching, we’d love to come play,” he said.

The actor also reminded the streamer how S.W.A.T. quickly jumped to the number one watched show when it debuted on Netflix in 2023. He also suggested NBC, ABC, or Fox could save the show.

Could He Join Beyond The Gates?

Of course his fans would love to see S.W.A.T. renewed. However, if it isn’t, that leaves him open for other shows. Some fans are hoping he will return to The Young & The Restless. It was one of his first acting roles. He joined the CBS soap in 1995 as Malcolm Winters. He left the show in 2002 when his career began to take off.

However, Shemar Moore has never forgotten his humble soap roots. He’s returned to Y&R several times over the years, including in 2023 for the show’s 50th anniversary.

If he doesn’t want to return to Genoa City, there’s a new neighborhood that would welcome him. Fans would love to see Shemar Moore in Fairmont Crest. That’s the fictional setting for CBS’s new soap Beyond The Gates. It premiered to rave reviews and huge ratings in January.

Soap vets Cady McClain and Jon Lindstrom recently joined the soap. Shemar Moore could bring Malcolm Winters to town or play a new character.

Or he could return to Criminal Minds as Derek Morgan. The show went off the air in 2020 but there is a reboot on Paramount+.

No matter where Shemar Moore lands next, his fans are sure to follow. Do you want to see him on Beyond The Gates?
