Shemar Moore Shared Sad News With S.W.A.T. Fans On Instagram

S.W.A.T. is an action series based on the 1975 television series and 2003 film of the same name. The series revolves around LAPD Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, who leads a new Special Weapons and Tactics unit.

Actor Shemar Moore stars as Hondo in the series, which first premiered in 2017. However, the series appears to be coming to an end, as the eighth season finishes up in May.

Moore announced the news on Instagram. In a video, he shared, “I wasn’t going to do this, but I can’t help it.”

“‘S.W.A.T.’ here we are, Season 8, three weeks away from the finale. We are canceled again. It sucks. It’s sad.”

Moore also went on to praise the series’ cast and crew. He dubbed the production crew “the most amazing crew in Hollywood.”

Moore continued, “Just good people,” he said. “No jerks. People who show up, sacrifice seeing their families and work their tails off to make ‘S.W.A.T.'”

The actor made his peace with the news, but wasn’t against the idea of CBS changing their mind. He also mentioned a streaming service, teasing the possibility of the series being revived in some other platform.

“Thank you for the opportunity. Thank you for the ride. If you change your mind, I promise you, you’ll make a lot of people smile. But if you’re done, CBS, I say thank you. Hey, Netflix, how you doing?”

The idea of CBS rethinking its decision isn’t completely out of the blue. As noted by USA Today, the network previously canceled the series back in 2023 after Season 6. However, CBS ultimately renewed the series weeks before the seventh season’s finale.

Some Fans Also Shared Their Hopes For The Actor’s Future

In the caption, Moore shared, “SWAT IS CANCELED…. AGAIN!!! After 8 seasons… CANCELED… maybe this time for good!!! But my momma didn’t raise NO QUITTER!!!”

“No Matter what, I AM GRATEFUL [and] THANKFUL!!! Almost 31 years in this game of Hollywood… JOURNEY OF A DREAMER!!! To my Homies, Fans, Baby Girls, SWAT CREW, and Hollywood…. I say THANK YOU!!!! And ‘FILL THE GAPS n STAY LIQUID… ROLL SWAT’!!!!”
