As TV Shows Ace previously noted, ABC is in the process of laying off many employees. Sadly, that means major production changes are coming to Good Morning America, too.

According to the New York Post, ABC staff members already began clearing their desks after receiving a memo from ABC News’ president on March 5. Moving forward, a single team will produce Good Morning America and its third hour, GMA3.

While layoffs aren’t unique to the news industry right now, one angry staff member reportedly pointed fingers at specific Good Morning America hosts.

What exactly happened? And are these new allegations just complaints from a disgruntled employee or indicative of something bigger?

ABC Layoffs Have Employees Completely Enranged & Pointing Fingers

When layoffs happen in any company, people are angry and want someone to blame. One insider allegedly told The Sun that ABC’s New York-based studio has become a “complete sh*tshow.”

The remaining anchors and production team members are doing their best to keep the show running smoothly. But they now have to produce the same high-quality content with fewer team members and resources.

One inside source recently spoke out, blaming two former ABC employees for the latest disruption.

According to the source, former anchors Amy Robach and TJ Holmes bear the brunt of responsibility. Good Morning America viewers vividly recall the dramatic fallout when they publicly disclosed their relationship. Both had spouses at the time, prompting widespread outrage from viewers. In early 2023, ABC fired both Robach and Holmes from the program.

“Staff blamed Amy and TJ for being selfish and ruining the show, essentially, when they were let go,” the disgruntled employee claimed.

Even though GMA viewers felt angry with the pair, many also agreed they tuned in specifically to watch the banter between the two. Despite the scandal, Holmes and Robach brought in sky-high viewership.

“They’ve never hired anyone with quite the same level of charisma that TJ and Amy had that had people tuning in to watch them together, the source reportedly continued. “Amy and TJ got let go for being selfish two years ago, and now the rest of us are being fired in the fallout. They’ve ruined it for everyone else and now the whole staff is gone.”

Amy Robach & TJ Holmes Have Moved On

Some staffers might be angry with Holmes and Robach, but they’ve since moved forward with their lives after parting ways with ABC. They now host the Amy & TJ Podcast, where they discuss a wide variety of topics, ranging from current events to dating.

What do you make of the situation? Do you think Amy Robach and TJ Holmes share any responsibility in the ABC layoffs? Or do you think higher-ups at ABC and Disney are largely to blame? Add your own thoughts and ideas in the conversation below.
