Bachelorette Paused Amid Accusations Of ‘Toxic’ Workplace
Season 29 of The Bachelor kicked off in January, which started chatter about the next season of The Bachelorette. But in a shocking move, ABC revealed that the spinoff is on pause and won’t return in 2025.
Many viewers thought the decision was possibly related to the backlash after Jenn Tran’s season. Jenn got engaged to Devin Strader but they broke up within a month. They had a heated exchange at the After The Final Rose special. Furthermore, shocking allegations came out about Devin’s past that put the show’s background checks and casting choices into question.
Not only was Bachelorette put on pause, most of the crew was fired. Deadline reported allegations from the crew that the reality TV set was “toxic.”
Despite the spinoff not returning this year, fans are already throwing out ideas for the lead when – or if – the show returns.
Fans Predict Wild Theory About Next Lead
Being cast as the lead on Bachelor or Bachelorette is a life-changing opportunity. The network usually goes with someone who is popular with viewers and will get good ratings.
But Bachelor Nation fans don’t care about those factors. Fans have their own ideas about who should be the lead. A Reddit thread dedicated to the next Bachelorette season included a few women from Grant’s season of The Bachelor.
Another viewer renewed speculation that rugby player and Dancing With The Stars breakout contestant Ilona Maher could be the next Bachelorette.
But according to one Bachelor Nation fan, the show needs to go in a different direction. “We need a shake up, bring us someone well known from an older season! These shake ups tend to reengage past viewers who have given up on the franchise,” they suggested.
Several fans agreed, with more than one fan saying that Rachel Recchia should get a solo season after sharing her Bachelorette season with Gabby Windey.
Rachael Kirkconnell Is Single
One surprising name from fans is Rachael Kirkconnell. She was the winner of Season 25 of The Bachelor. She left the show in a relationship with Matt James. Fans waited for years for the couple to get engaged. Instead, they broke up in January after four years together.
One fan wrote this about Rachael: “Since there’s a pause on the Bachelorette it gives her some time to heal before dating again. She’s serious about marriage, is gorgeous, hilarious, and smart.”
However, another Bachelor Nation viewer reminded them of the huge scandal surrounding Season 25 and led to Chris Harrison’s exit from the franchise. Rachael Kirkconnell came under fire when the season was airing after photos were posted online of her attending a college party at a plantation.
“If they made her the Bachelorette, all of this would resurface, so no, I don’t think she or the show would want to go down that road again,” the detractor wrote on Reddit.
