What Is NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 11 ‘Flight Of Icarus’ About?

The upcoming NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 11 “Flight Of The Icarus” does a deep dive into the life of Mike Franks. According to Collider, Gibbs and Franks were not initially pals. However, in “Flight Of Icarus,” viewers meet Mike’s older brother Mason (Mathew Erick White). Mason was the patriarch of the Franks family.

Therefore, when a young Mike is drafted for the Vietnam War, Mason has a plan to get his younger brother escape enlistment. But Mike isn’t having any of this. If he follows his older brother’s plan, he will never be able to return home. Therefore, Mason decides that he and Mike join the Marines together. He is not about to let his baby brother go alone.

Sadly, while Mike is able to return home and live his life, Mason is killed while serving as a Marine. This becomes yet another tragedy in Mike’s life. Moreover, this heartbreaking loss is part of why he and Gibbs have such a tight bond. They have lost and have suffered great trauma.

Most of all, this is another opportunity to show how Mike Franks instilled values into Gibbs’ life. He learned to be a man of integrity thanks to Mike Franks. However, it was all based on a traumatic experience that taught them both stoicism and honor.

When Is The Premiere Of ‘Flight Of Icarus’?

The premiere of NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 11 “Flight Of Icarus” is on Monday, March 3, at 10 p.m., Eastern, on CBS. This episode will be available to stream the next day on Paramount+.

NCIS: Origins Renewed For Season 2

Recently, NCIS fans got triple-good news. All three series including The Mothership, Origins, and Sydney were renewed. That means CBS is giving the OG Season 23, Origins, Season 2, and Sydney, the first International spinoff of the series, Season 3. This means more stories, more deep dives, and more Gibbs!
