Savannah Guthrie Shares Special Meaning Behind Only Tattoo
Many Today Show viewers couldn’t imagine the morning program without widely beloved anchor Savannah Guthrie. The journalist joined the show as an anchor in 2011 and has no intention of slowing down.
Savannah’s climb to the top in the journalism world has been filled with trials and tribulations. Hard work had a lot to do with it, but Savannah also credits her moral compass with guiding her through the rough times.
In a new interview, the anchor opened up about her meaningful tattoo and its unique meaning that helps drive her.
Savannah Guthrie Honors Her Late Father With A Meaningful Tattoo
Now that 2025 is in full swing, Savannah Guthrie is navigating through many major changes in her professional life. Not only did she say goodbye to her long-time co-anchor Hoda Kotb, but she’s also exploring life as a published author.
Her new book, Mostly What God Does Is Love You, is now available for purchase. And whatever changes come her way, Savannah has a mantra that reminds her of her true purpose.
In a new interview with PEOPLE, Savannah Guthrie opened up about the only tattoo she has on her body. It’s a tribute to her late father, but also helps keep her grounded and focused. The art work features the words “all my love” in her father’s handwriting. The Today anchor revealed that those words now guide her life and career pursuits.
“It’s my sister who famously said that God was the sixth member of our family. And I think what she meant was that God was a subject of conversation and a presence and character in our lives that we talked about and referred to and leaned on. And so I’m trying to bring that same feeling to our own house,” Savannah shared in the interview, adding that her children never shy away from hard questions.
The Journalist Expresses Gratitude For Her Life & Career
Savannah Guthrie feels proud to display her father’s words on her skin. She knows she owes her career to her family and faith. No matter what happens next in love, she will use her tattoo as a reminder to stay true to herself.
“But I’m very grateful and I’m very aware,” Savannah continued in the interview, laughing that the position has helped her develop true humility. “I know how blessed I am. I know how improbable it is that of all people on planet Earth, that it would be me. That this little spark of a secret dream that I might’ve had in my twenties could actually come true, so specifically. And of course, I see God’s fingerprints all over it. God is greater than any plans or any of our screw-ups. That’s what I’ve learned. I know — I know how lucky I am.”
