‘GMA’ Robin Roberts Breaks Down In Tears

Good Morning America co-host Robin Roberts is stepping aside from her morning talk show gig briefly to host ABC’s Countdown To The Oscars. The network is gearing up to host one of the biggest nights in entertainment this weekend. The 97th Academy Awards will air on March 2 on ABC. Prior to that, viewers will be able to tune in on Friday, February 28 to see Roberts interview some of the biggest names in movies this year. In one particular interview, Robin admits to breaking down in tears. What happened and who was she speaking with? Keep reading to find out all the details.
GMA Host Robin Roberts Admits To Shedding Some Tears
Good Morning America host Robin Roberts had the honor of interviewing some of Hollywood’s biggest names prior to the 97th Academy Awards. During the Countdown To The Oscars special, Roberts spoke with many celebrities including, Demi Moore and Timothee Chalamet.
One particular actress that Robin spoke with is Cynthia Erivo who starred in Oscar-nominated Wicked. While speaking with her Erivo revealed that she never thought the movie would be this big. The movie has gained world recognition and even made Robin Roberts break down in tears.

She told Erivo that she and Ariana Grande who portrayed Glinda brought her to tears. She said, “You had me in tears. You and your co-star.” She asked Erivo to give some behind-the-scenes insight into those moments on screen that captivated moviegoers.
As for Erivo, she portrayed Elphaba Thropp in Wicked, who ultimately became The Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz. Along with Wicked being nominated, Cynthia Erivo will perform at the Oscars on Sunday night.

Of course, Cynthia Erivo is also nominated for Best Leading Actress for her unbelievable performance in Wicked. Ariana Grande is up for best supporting actress.
Robin Roberts Looks Back On Previous Years Of The Oscars
On Instagram, Robin Roberts also had a special post for fans. She shared various photos from previous years leading up to the Oscars. She said,
“The countdown continues for the 97th Academy Awards just six days away now. We’re getting you red carpet ready all week long on @goodmorningamerica and excited to share our #Oscars prime time special with you this Friday night on @abc. In honor of all the glitz and glamour we’re taking a look back some of the #MemorableMoments we’ve had over the years covering Hollywood’s biggest night. #GMA50”

Speaking of Michael Strahan, while Robin Roberts was away from GMA filming her upcoming Oscars special, Strahan noted that he would love to take on the movie role of James Bond. This came as it was announced that Amazon has sole rights to airing the James Bond franchise.

While some think he could pull it off, his fellow co-hosts reminded him that he already has enough jobs and does not need to take on any others.
