‘9-1-1’ To Crossover With ‘Doctor Odyssey,’ Details
With 9-1-1‘s switch to ABC, the series has certainly gotten a lot more opportunities on its new home. The series is expected to have a crossover with one of the network’s other shows, Doctor Odyssey. That said, the two shows already have a strong connection. This also comes out following other news concerning the 9-1-1 franchise.
9-1-1‘s Athena & Doctor Odyssey’s Max Are Set To Team Up
9-1-1 is a procedural drama looking at the lives of first responders in Los Angeles. From 2018 to 2023, the series aired on the Fox network. However, it switched to ABC in 2024.
Doctor Odyssey, meanwhile, premiered on ABC in 2024. The medical drama revolves around a doctor aboard a luxury cruise ship.
That said, both shows already have a connection with each other. Ryan Murphy serves as a co-creator on both series.
According to People, the two shows are about to collide in a crossover event. Viewers will get to see 9-1-1‘s Athena and Doctor Odyssey‘s Max join forces.
In keeping with a recurring them on Doctor Odyssey, a theme has already been picked for the week’s cruise. A description read, “It’s Casino Week aboard The Odyssey, and unexpected guest Athena Grant [9-1-1‘s Angela Bassett] suspects two passengers are targeting the ship’s vault. Enlisting Max’s [Jackson] help, Athena raises the stakes in a dangerous game where not everyone will end up with a winning hand”
Interestingly, the season 7 premiere of 9-1-1 also took place on a cruise during a three-part storyline. At the time, Peter Krause, who plays Athena’s husband Bobby, spoke with the publication about the event.
The Crossover Episode Is Expected To Air This March
Krause shared “I liked the whole run that Bobby and Athena get to go through from the very beginning when they’re on the cruise ship trying to figure things out.” He also noted it was “the most we’ve gotten to work with each other.”
“I can say that it brought Bobby and Athena closer together,” Krause said of the traumatic events that kick off the season…I think it brought [him and Angela] closer together as actors as well, which is really nice.”

As noted by Variety, the crossover is a first for Murphy. This is one of the first times two of his shows that are not from the same franchise have crossed over.
As mentioned, since its switch to ABC, the network appears to have taken a shine to the 9-1-1 franchise. It was previously reported that ABC had picked up a spin-off of the series, 9-1-1: Nashville. This notably came out after another spin-off, 9-1-1: Lone Star, finished its five-season run on Fox.
The 9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey crossover episode is also notably right around the corner. It is scheduled for Thursday, March 20 at 9 PM ET on ABC.
