There is so much variation with all of the mini-games and all of the ways that players can win, that there is an endless combination of possibilities. With this game, players guess the prices of five items, and with each correct guess, more money accumulates. So, there is obvious incentive to guess the correct prices for things. The player gets a number of potential prices for each item, with the first having two price possibilities, and each following item having one more price than the previous one. This ends up with there being six prices for the final item.
Players are then given five pennies, and they can use them to get rid of wrong prices for current items at random. If they guess incorrectly, they need to pay two pennies to stay in the game. So, it’s a slippery slope if things start to take a bad turn.
The Price Is Right Player Puts Together Impressive Win, Shocks Drew Carey
This player named Dennis quickly went on a tear in recent game show scenes. He put together a string of correct guesses, to the point where he still had all of his pennies by the time he got to the final item. Because of his savvy play, he essentially guaranteed himself the win, and his impressive play even shocked host Drew Carey.
Dennis handed in his pennies and walked away with a cool $25k, but, his good luck did not end there. He ended up taking that good luck to the Showcase Showdown round and winning his showcase, which included a trip to Hawaii, a new television, and a Hyundai vehicle.
If that were not enough, he ended up with the closest bid, winning the jackpot, which netted him $65k in prizes. Not too shabby for a day on The Price Is Right set.
