CBS has decided on the fate of all three of the network’s NCIS series including the original, the first international show in the series Sydney, and the prequel Origins.

Here are the details including how Origins performed against Hawaii. Did the network make the right gamble?

CBS Renews All Three NCIS Series

On Thursday, CBS announced they are renewing all three NCIS series including The Mothership, for Season 23, Sydney, for Season 3, and Origins, for Season 2.

According to Deadline, the trio of military procedural dramas were renewed along with Tracker Season 3, and Fire Country.

CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach praised the network’s top shows. “This season, our new and returning series continue to showcase CBS as the leader in launching and programming the biggest hits with mass appeal for broadcast and streaming viewers.”

NCIS: Origns Did Better Than Hawaii

Last year, NCIS: Hawaii viewers were not fans of the CBS Entertainment President. Did Reisnbach and her team make the right decision?

It appears so. Just from “streaming alone” Origins has 9.2 million viewers. This is 72 percent higher than last year’s show Hawaii.

As for The Mothership, it averages 10.4 million multiplatform viewers. Streaming alone is now three percent higher.

NCIS: Sydney averages seven million viewers in Live+35 viewing.

A lot of fans were very unhappy about the Hawaii cancelation. However, the Young Gibbs origin story has enjoyed a good following.

As for the NCIS: Tony & Ziva series, which is currently filming, it is not clear if it will air on CBS or on Paramount+. The series started filming late last summer. When and where CBS will air this spinoff should be announced in the coming weeks.

Executive Producer Sean Harmon, Austin Stowell and Executive Producer Mark Harmon from ’NCIS: Origins’ attend the CBS New Fall Schedule Celebration event to announce CBS' 2024-2025 primetime lineup at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles on May 2, 2024. The primetime programming lineup of CBS Originals features three new dramas, two new comedies, a new alternative series, a reimagined classic game show, special event programming and 18 returning series. -- Photo: Francis Specker/CBS ©2024 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. NCIS: Origins Is Just Getting Started

While NCIS fans pretty much know what to expect from the OG, and as Sydney Season 2 just started, it is not surprising that one of the Origins showrunners David J. North already has some ideas for Season 2.

In an interview with TV Line back in December, North shared a vision for the next season which includes more flashbacks. Although this season it has been mostly Mike Franks, there will be opportunities for Gibbs to go back in time.

NCIS fans, are you happy all three are renewed?

  1. I stopped watching the original when they COLORED THIS LAST CHICKS HAIR. IM Sick of BLONDES, when the brunettes are gorgeous— and yet- they all go blonde. Fed up
