Colin Cassidy, From Restaurant Job To ‘General Hospital’ Star

Colin Cassidy, a new actor on General Hospital, has quickly made a name for himself since joining the show in October 2024. Cassidy plays the role of Aiden Spencer, a character who has been on the show for a while. This is Cassidy’s first-ever role in daytime television, and his journey to landing the part is an inspiring story of hard work and determination.
Colin Cassidy’s Career At A Young Age
Born and raised in Rhode Island, Cassidy discovered his passion for acting at a very young age. His mom recognized his talent when he was just 2 years old, and by the time he was 5, he was starring in his first play, The Music Man. He continued to pursue acting through school productions all the way through high school. After graduating, Cassidy decided to take his career to the next level and moved to Los Angeles in 2021 to pursue acting professionally.

His audition for General Hospital was a huge opportunity for him, and it turned out to be his first-ever soap opera audition. Cassidy worked hard to prepare for the role, hiring an acting coach and taking the audition seriously. At first, he didn’t hear anything back for a while, but when he received a callback, he was thrilled. He remembers feeling nervous and excited when he went in for the in-person audition, especially since there were so many other kids who looked similar to him. Despite the competition, Cassidy stuck to his training and gave it his all.
After the audition, he didn’t feel great about how it went, but just as he was heading back to his restaurant job, he got the call that he had landed the role. Cassidy was overjoyed and immediately called his parents with the good news. They had a feeling he would get the part, and their celebration was filled with happiness and excitement.
Cassidy Received Support On His First Day
On his first day on set, Cassidy received help from his on-screen mom, Rebecca Herbst, who plays Elizabeth. Herbst made Cassidy feel comfortable and guided him through his first day, teaching him the ropes of working on a soap opera. Cassidy felt a strong connection with Herbst, and their relationship on-screen has only grown stronger over time.

Cassidy has also received support from his fellow cast members, such as Gio Mazza and Katelyn MacMullen. They’ve been kind and encouraging, helping him feel welcomed and confident on set.
While Cassidy has embraced the role of Aiden, there’s one part of his character that he still needs to work on: baking. Aiden loves to bake, but Cassidy admits that his baking skills aren’t quite up to par. He jokes that his oven is broken but plans to fix it so he can practice his baking skills.
Cassidy’s story is a reminder that with hard work, support from others, and a little luck, dreams can come true. He’s excited about the future and looks forward to growing as an actor in General Hospital. How do you feel about Colin Cassidy’s character? Is his story inspiring?
