‘My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding’ Teddy Lee Dead At 34
Teddy Lee, who was known for appearing on episodes of My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding, was killed in a recent shooting. The TV personality was one of two casualties from the incident. He was 34 at the time of his death.
Teddy Lee Appeared On My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding & Was Previously Attached To A Gypsy Sister Star
Lee was known for appearing on episodes of My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding. The TLC series revolves around marriage customs concerns Romani-Americans, occasionally featuring those of Irish Traveller descent.
The series is also known for its spin-off Gypsy Sisters, which revolves around the lives on Romanichal women living in Virginia. Lee was at one point dating Joann Wells, who appeared throughout the second to fourth seasons of Gypsy Sisters.
According to Starcasm, Birmingham Police were given a call on Thursday, February 13, relating to the incident. There were reports of gunfire and a person hanging out of a vehicle.
According to WVTM 13, police reported that, “At the scene, officers found a man and a woman in a vehicle who had been shot. Both were pronounced dead by the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service.”
As the publication noted, fans of the TLC series, My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding and Gypsy Sisters, reported that one of the victims was Teddy Lee. This was later confirmed by police.
The second victim, a woman, was later identified as Brittany Taylor Brewer. Lee was 34 at the time of his death while Brewer was 33.
At the time, there are conflicting reports on what Lee and Brewer’s relationship was at the time of their death. As Starcasm noted, some social media accounts had Lee listed as Brewer’s “husband,” but this was unconfirmed.
A Suspect Has Since Been Taken Into Police Custody
The Special Enforcement Division’s Crime Reduction Team also later revealed that a suspect had been arrested in connection to the case. The suspect, identified as Demetrius Walton, was taken into custody without incident. As noted by WVTM 13, he is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail on capital murder charges. He is also currently being held without bond.
During his time on My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding, Lee appeared during the second season. He was initially dating a pregnant girl named Megan. However, they eventually broke up. He later appeared at a Romanichal Ball in Nashville.

According to Starcasm, Gypsy Sisters star Mellie Stanley also took to Facebook to discuss the news of Teddy’s passing. As she wrote, “This world is evil and people got demons in them.”
“I pray you get caught for what you done you took a son a brother a father…“He would have given his shirt off his back to anyone, but he don’t got to live in pain any more because we know he’s in heaven now and wouldn’t come back.”
