Jimmy Fallon’s Feud With Mark Consuelos Gets Ugly

On October 30, 2024, The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon found himself in a surprising and humorous feud with actor Mark Consuelos. The two men were both competing for the top spot in PEOPLE magazine’s readers’ choice poll for Sexiest Man Alive. In the end, Consuelos claimed the title for the second year in a row, defeating Fallon, as well as Saved By The Bell star Mario Lopez and comedian Seth Meyers.

The rivalry between Fallon and Consuelos started when Fallon jokingly asked Consuelos to withdraw from the contest. On an episode of The Tonight Show, Fallon said, “I’m up against Seth Meyers, Mario Lopez, and Mark Consuelos. Yuck!” He then added, “I’m going to ask you right now, please remove your name from the ballot of People’s Sexiest.” Fallon’s playful remarks set the stage for the friendly competition.

But things heated up when Fallon discussed the results on Live with Kelly and Mark. Fallon admitted that Consuelos had “mopped the floor” with him in the poll. “You really did it and you deserve it,” Fallon said, though he was clearly frustrated by his loss. Consuelos’ wife, Kelly Ripa, added, “It got ugly, it got dirty,” to which Fallon agreed, joking, “It did get a little dirty because there were some attack ads that I aired.”

Despite the jokes, Consuelos explained that he didn’t want to win in such a competitive way. “I tried! I tried to drop out, but the people at PEOPLE said ‘You can’t drop out.'” He also said that when he asked if the results were close, he was told it was a very tight race, with Fallon “winning the electoral college.” However, Fallon still felt the sting of his defeat. “I got to go around the city and see you all over the city with no clothes on!” Fallon joked, admitting he had tried his best to win.

After Consuelos claimed the Sexiest TV Host title, he revealed that he voted for Fallon several times. “I voted for him multiple times, but America has spoken,” Consuelos said. Fallon, however, showed good sportsmanship by sending Consuelos a large bouquet of white flowers with a note that read, “To the Sexiest Talk Show Host out there: There was never really any competition – Jimmy.”

Although Fallon lost the title, he expressed his admiration for John Krasinski, who was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive. Fallon said, “He’s got the whole package, he’s good-looking, funny, and a good person.” Even though he didn’t win, Fallon made it clear that he would love to someday be named Sexiest Man Alive.
