‘Family Feud’ Fan Calls Steve Harvey Out For ‘Deception’
Steve Harvey remains one of the most beloved game show hosts on television today. He is someone fans like, the players love to mess around with, and the Family Feud production team appreciates his quick wit. It is said that most of Harvey’s funny quips are improvised on the spot, and the network trusts him not to step over the line.
However, there is one fan who thinks that Steve is deceiving the viewers at home and the players involved with something he says in every Family Feud episode. Here is what the fan is calling Steve out for.
Steve Harvey Accused Of Lying To Viewers On Family Feud
Steve Harvey is someone who has a lot of fun when hosting Family Feud. He loves to have fun, he is willing to pump people up when needed, and he is also willing to poke fun at people when they say something silly. However, he has one thing he says before every episode that has one fan at home frustrated.
A fan started a Reddit thread in the Family Feud subreddit. They said they had a question and wrote, “At the beginning of every show Steve says “and somebody may drive outta here in a brand new car!” Which just isn’t true. The only way you can win the car is on your fifth day of winning the game. This drives me crazy!”
This then led to other fans coming in and responding to the critique:
- “He doesn’t say ” … may drive outta here in a new car TODAY”. It’s simply the Grand prize the teams are competing for.”
- “It’s showmanship, IMO, not deception”
- “Why is he allowed to say what he want?”
That last comment was from someone who claims that Steve insults players on a personal level. That, however, is far from true and when Steve does throw out an insult, it is always in a playful manner and the people laugh along with him.
Steve Harvey Improvises On Most Family Feud Episodes
It is said that Steve Harvey doesn’t want to know the answers to the questions on the board. He prefers to be as surprised as the viewers and players. This was likely shown when an answer to “animals without hair” included his name on the board (and other humans). His expression was priceless.
When it comes to players making silly answers or the questions going a little off the rails, most of Steve’s comments are all improvised and no one writes his comic comebacks. The production team has complete faith in Steve to say the right thing and not get anyone into trouble.
“Comedy writers love Steve because he’s fearless and the writers on that show in particular lean into the raunchy stuff because, for some of them, it’s their first ever chance to write for a veteran, household name comedian,” a source said.
