Wendy Williams continues to fight for her independence. The former talk show host continues to do interviews with people and say that she feels like a prisoner in the long-care living facility she is at. However, a recent report indicates that while she has been isolated from all her friends and family, she is paying a great sum of money to live in the facility.

Here is how much Wendy is paying and what might be next for her.

Wendy Williams Pays Huge Sum For Long-Term Care Facility

Wendy Williams has been living in a studio apartment in a long-term care facility for the last six months. She has been cut off from her family and friends and is not allowed to leave. However, it turns out that the facility has a high price tag as well. Wendy is reportedly paying $40,000 a month for her studio apartment there (via The U.S. Sun).

The cost breakdown is that the Manhattan high-rise studio apartment rents out for $13,000 monthly. However, she has the memory care upgrade meant for people with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Since she has the memory care upgrades, that added on the additional rent to put it at around $40,000 monthly.

This is a large sum of money, but since she is in New York City, that accounts for the high prices. Around the United States, the average monthly rent for a memory care facility runs close to $7,000. Most families can’t afford that, and loved ones have to deal with regular long-term care facilities that don’t have the faculty that patients need to thrive.

According to Williams, she lives on the fifth floor of the facility, and she is not allowed to leave. That is also normal for patients with dementia for their own safety.

Wendy Williams Still Argues She Does Not Have Dementia

According to Wendy Williams, the courts placed her in a guardianship when her son stole over $100,000 from her bank accounts. Wells Fargo reported this, and the courts placed her in the guardianship. Her guardian then cut her off from her family and friends and said her money had disappeared.

There have been a pair of documentaries that paint her guardian in a negative light. These have also shown Wendy in various stages of disorder. However, it was recently learned that her bulging eyes that people have pointed out were caused by a very different disease.

Wendy said that no doctor has assessed her since she moved into the facility months ago. Wendy was said to have “alcohol related brain damage” and was diagnosed with “Dronteotemporal dementia.” However, Wendy wants to be freed from her restrictive guardianship.
