‘1000-Lb Sisters’ Source Says TLC Hires Body Doubles For Show

Reality television fans know there are bits of scripted elements and manipulation involved in the production process. But how much does TLC actually fabricate 1000-Lb Sisters?
Over the years, many viewers have speculated the family members are acting, even though they heavily deny it. But one crew member has put out a video shining light on some of the production secrets. And that includes using stand-ins for the family members.
A 1000-Lb Sisters Crew Member Reveals Production Tricks
It takes many crew members and many moving parts to bring a television show to the small screen. And that’s true of reality television too. It’s not as simple as following the 1000-Lb Sisters stars around with a camera. Fans love learning about the tricks crew members use to make the magic happen.
“Interesting behind the scenes tidbit,” one Redditor posted on the platform. They attached a video of a production team member explaining the tricks TLC uses to help bring the show to life.
The crew member addresses a fan’s question asking about the confessional filming process. The interviews always seem to take place in an immaculate, well-decorated home. Few 1000-Lb Sisters fans believe the property belongs to any of the family members.

“So basically, the production company rents out an interview house which is like nearby where they live, kind of in a central location to everyone,” TikToker @granteverdeen shared. “And it’s all filmed in this one room, but they design it so there’s different backgrounds. So if you look over here, there’s some blue, that’s Amy’s background and she’s positioned a little differently than Chris, which has a whole different background.”
The TikTok user goes on to describe how they use markers to remember where to put the furniture. They film sit-down interviews during the entire season, not just in one setting. He includes several images from behind the scenes, including himself sitting in Chris’ chair to set up lighting and camera angles for the interview.
In a nutshell, TLC does use body doubles for the cast members. But it’s for the sake of setting up a shot.
