‘Southern Charm’ Thomas Ravenel No Longer Running For SC Governor, Why?
Former Southern Charm star, Thomas Ravenel is no longer running for Governor of South Carolina. The announcement came days after he shared that he had entered the race. So, what happened to make him drop out so soon? Keep reading for more details on the situation.
Thomas Ravenel No Longer Running For SC Governor
It was quite a shock when Thomas Ravenel announced his bid for South Carolina Governor. He had tried his hand at politics in the past and had not fared well. His history was tainted with drug charges and assault accusations. He also shares two children with his ex and former Southern Charm co-star, Kathryn Dennis. Thomas was granted full custody of the kids as Kathryn had her own problems but she has attempted to work through them, Unfortunately, that has not stopped Thomas from bashing her on social media regularly. He is relentless when it comes to Kathryn and is just as bad to the rest of the cast.
When it came out that he and Olivia Flowers had hooked up before she joined the show, Thomas implied she was using him to get on Southern Charm. She is no longer on the show as she was let go after two seasons. Regardless, he has proven he has no respect for women and has not been on the show for several seasons. However, he decided to run for Governor after serving as treasurer for under a year. This was a questionable move but he did it…for four days. He took to his Twitter/X account to share he had a change of heart.
Thomas Ravenel maintained that he felt it was not the best time to run due to his three young children. He is now trying to portray himself as a family man above anything else. After seeing the announcement, Southern Charm fans had a lot of thoughts about it. One shared this:
- I didn’t think he was too serious about it since he announced it on X.
They believed that had he really cared about the race, he would stop communicating via social media.

Many viewers could not help but mock Thomas Ravenel and his past shenanigans:
- “At this juncture of my life” – like good sir, at this point you’re just a round-a-bout
- Someone didn’t get the donations he was counting on
- Too bad he dropped out before making another low budget cringe commercial

Ultimately, it seems like this was not the best decision for him to enter the gubernatorial race. No one understood why he even wanted to or tried. At the end of the day, maybe Thomas will try again when he is not working so hard to raise his children.
