Kanye West’s Site Goes Dark After Shocking Merchandise

When Kanye West ends up in the headlines, it’s generally not great news. This weekend, many believe the rapper committed one of his worst atrocities to date.

West enraged and offended consumers around the world after advertising his online store during the Super Bowl on February 9. Shopify has since shut down the store, but the damage has already been done.

Now, many are questioning how network executives allowed things to slip through the cracks. What exactly happened?

Kanye West Promoted Hateful Propaganda During The Super Bowl

Rapper Kanye West has been making headlines in the worst ways over the last few weeks. From calling to free Sean “Diddy” Combs to his wife’s apparel during the Grammy’s, it’s hard to tell what West will do next.

Just before Super Bowl Sunday, he made the unfortunate choice to go on a pro-Nazi rant on social media, even going as far as to idolize Adolf Hitler.

But that’s not where it ended.

The 47-year-old decided to launch a new apparel line and promote it during the game. But when visitors went to the store, they uncovered something wildly disturbing. The shop featured one item — a white shirt with a black swastika.

TMZ reports that Kanye West’s website is now offline after selling apparel with pro-Nazi messages. The publication notes that the rapper paid $80 million for a 30-second Super Bowl ad promoting the site. He managed his shop through Shopify, who immediately pulled out once they realized what West had done.

According to Shopify, West’s store “did not engage in authentic commerce practices and violated our terms so we removed them from Shopify.”

But sadly, the damage was already done and many took advantage of the opportunity to purchase a shirt from the site.

An insider reportedly told TMZ that the infamous Super Bowl ad brought in $2 million in t-shirt sales. Each shirt sold for $20, meaning consumers purchased 100,000 in total before Shopify shut the store down.

Yeezy.com now features a “this store is unavailable message” when visitors access the link.

How Did FOX Allow This To Happen?

Naturally, most viewers found the shop absolutely abhorrent. Many began asking questions, including how FOX approved an advertisement for such a controversial store.

According to TMZ, FOX reportedly did check West’s store before approving the ad. At the time, the store allegedly featured Yeezy-branded athletic gear and no Nazi propaganda.

Shopify is reportedly the latest media platform to completely cut ties with the rapper. Elon Musk censored Kanye West on X after he posted explicit sexual content on the platform this week. It’s not immediately clear what his future on the social media platform looks like.
