‘Swamp People’: Everyone Who Died On HISTORY Channel Series

Swamp People is a dangerous reality TV show. It joins shows like Dangerous Catch, where people risk their lives to do dangerous jobs for a living. There are also plenty of scripted moments of drama, but when it comes to the actual job at hand, there aren’t many things more dangerous than wrangling a giant alligator out of a swamp.
However, there have been some deaths coming out of the show’s cast, and most of them have nothing to do with gator attacks.
Who Died From Swamp People?
Randy Edwards starred in Swamp People since the first season of the show. He didn’t die on the show or even while hunting alligators. Randy died in an auto accident in Iberville Parish, Louisiana, in 2018.
He lost control of his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado when turning and hit a telephone pole. He was going so fast he was thrown out of the vehicle and died at the scene. Randy had a wife and three kids when he died.
“It is in deep sadness that I make this post. Junior and Theresa’s son, Willie’s brother, Randy, passed away in a vehicle accident early this morning. Randy was 35,” a friend posted after his death.
There was also a beloved pet that often appeared on the show who has died as well. Tyler, the Swamp Dog, was Bruce Mitchell’s pet and was often with his master on the boat. However, he died in 2014 at 13 from congestive heart failure.
Who Died While Hunting Gators On Swamp People?
Mitchell Guist was a fan favorite on Swamp People. He was a star on the second and third seasons with his brother, Glenn Guist. He was famous for hunting everything from alligators to catfish, crayfish, and bullfrogs. However, Mitchell died while hunting.
Mitchell had a seizure while on a boat 75 miles out of New Orleans on the Belle River. By the time they could get to him and perform CPR, it was too late. He was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead.
“We are extremely saddened to report that our friend and beloved member of the Swamp People family, Mitchell Guist, has passed away earlier today. Mitchell passed on the swamp, doing what he loved,” History Channel released in a statement (via THR).
As for the stars who almost died, the number is large. Tommy Chauvin almost died twice – once in a five-car pile-up accident and then in another accident that saw his right hand amputated. Dusty Crum was also in an accident that almost cost him his leg.
