Kanye West, the famous rapper and fashion designer, has asked a Los Angeles judge to delay a trial set for February 24, 2025. The trial involves a discrimination lawsuit filed by his former employee, Tony Saxon. Kanye is claiming that he has had trouble finding a lawyer due to the negative media attention surrounding him.

Kanye West’s Lawyer Quit’s

In court documents obtained by In Touch, Kanye’s lawyer, Manoj Shah, explained that Kanye has faced “extreme hardship” when trying to find legal representation. The difficulties have come as a result of the negative media coverage Kanye has received in recent years. Shah also said that Kanye had interviewed several national, regional, and local law firms, but none were willing to take on the case. Kanye’s previous lawyer, Brian Brumfield, withdrew from representing him in July 2024. Brumfield claimed that Kanye had stopped communicating with him and had also refused to pay for his legal services.

This ongoing legal trouble centers around Tony Saxon’s discrimination lawsuit. Saxon worked for Kanye in 2021, providing security at one of Kanye’s properties in Malibu, California. In his lawsuit, Saxon claims that he was mistreated during his time working for Kanye. Saxon alleges that he had to sleep on the floor because no beds were provided for him. He was also promised $20,000 a week for his work. Saxon also claims he was fired after refusing to follow Kanye’s demands, which he felt could lead to dangerous situations, like a fire hazard.

Tony Saxon’s Allegations Against Kanye

Saxon says that when he refused to comply with Kanye’s demands, Kanye became angry and told him, “If you don’t do what I say, you’re not going to work for me, I’m not going to be your friend anymore, and you’ll just see me on TV.” According to Saxon, Kanye then told him to leave. Kanye denies the allegations and argues that Saxon’s damages, if any, were caused by other people, not him.

In his legal defense, Kanye’s team also asked the judge to push back the trial to August or another later date. So that Kanye’s new lawyer, Eduardo Martorell, could take over the case. Martorell has agreed to represent Kanye, but only if the trial is delayed. Kanye’s wide, Bianca Censori, has been named as a potential witness in the trial. This adds another layer of drama to the case, as she could be called to testify about what happened between Kanye and his former employee.
