Candace Cameron Bure is standing by her Full House co-star as he battles stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Dave, 65, was diagnosed in October 2024, and Candace, 48, has been in touch with him regularly, offering her support. She shared in a recent interview that she talks to Dave often, checking in on his progress as he continues his cancer treatment. “I speak to Dave a lot, and he’s still on his journey and doing okay, “Candace said. She added that they share laughs during their phone calls, remembering the time together on Full House when they played characters D.J. Tanner and Joey Gladstone.

Candace Expresses Her Love For Dave

Candace emphasized the importance of being there for friends, no matter the situation. “That’s the most really anyone can do,” she explained.

“You tell people how much you love them. That’s what friends are for. You’re just there for people, whether it’s to be a listening ear or give words of comfort and encouragement.”

Her support for Dave during this difficult time shows how deeply their friendship goes beyond their television roles.

Dav, best known for playing the goofy, fun-loving character Joey Gladstone on Full House, first revealed his diagnosis to the public in November 2024. He said that his doctors discovered the cancer after he developed major swelling in his lymph nodes due to an upper respiratory infection. After further tests, he learned that he had a very aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma called B-cell lymphoma.

Dave’s Positive Attitude During Chemo

In addition to Candace’s support, Dave’s wife, Melissa, has been a big part of his journey. She shared with the press that his cancer treatment has been difficult, and the chemotherapy has been especially hard on him as it progresses. “He has some tough days, and as the chemo has been accumulating it gets a little tougher and more difficult,” she said. Despite the challenges, Melissa also noted that Dave has maintained a positive attitude, which is helping him through the tough moments. “He has such a positive attitude, and you need that to fight it,” Melissa explained. The couple even holds “dance parties” with their dogs on days when Dave feels good, showing their ability to celebrate the little moments of joy amid the tough times.

Melissa also mentioned that Dave draws strength from his family, especially from his past experiences with loss. Dave has lost several close family members, including his mother, sister, and niece, all to cancer. Despite the tragedy, he remains focused on honoring them and finding strength in their memories as he faces his battle with cancer. “I think for him, he takes every stride and pulls strength from seeing the women that were so close in his life to powering through it,” Melissa said.
