John Cena’s Game Show Canceled After Two Seasons?
John Cena’s version of the game show Wipeout has come to an end after just two seasons. The show, which aired on TBS, will soon air its final episodes. Cena, a WWE superstar, hosted the revived version of the popular game show. Along with attempting to complete the world’s largest obstacle course in order to win a grand prize of $50,000.
John Cena Takes Over Wipeout In 2021
Wipeout originally aired on ABC from 2008 to 2014, where it became known for its fun and chaotic obstacle courses and its humorous commentary. When John and his co-hosts took over in 2021, many fans were excited to see a new version of the show. However, despite its potential, the show could not maintain strong ratings. It was reported that Wipeout was canceled because of low viewership.
Jason Sarlanis, President of TNT, TBS, TruTV, ID, and HLN at Warner Bros. Discovery, shared that the network was making changes to its programming lineup. He explained that while Wipeout had a comedic and enjoyable vibe, the network needed to “recalibrate” its programming strategy. He also mentioned that the decision was part of a broader reevaluation of shows like Wipeout and other game shows, including The Cube, hosted by NBA star Dwyane Wade.

Wipeout Gets Wiped Out
The cancellation of Wipeout is part of a larger trend in television, where many game shows are struggling with low ratings. Shows that rely on celebrity hosts, like Wipeout and The Cube, have faced challenges in keeping viewers engaged. This marks the second time Wipeout has been canceled, as it was originally taken off the air after its seventh season in 2014.
John Cena, who is a 16-time WWE world champion, has been able to successfully transition into acting and hosting in recent years. He has been involved in many projects outside of wrestling. Including, starring in movies like Fast & Furious 9 and The Suicide Squad. Cena’s career is far from over, as he plans to retire from professional wrestling in 2025.
In a recent interview, Cena revealed that he had been homeless at one point before achieving fame. And he talked about how his difficult past helped shape his work ethic. Despite the end of Wipeout, Cena continues to be a well-known figure in entertainment. With a career that spans both wrestling and Hollywood.

Although Wipeout will no longer be airing on TBS, John’s career in both the wrestling and entertainment world remains strong. Fans are likely to see him in many more projects in the future, whether it’s on the big screen or hosting new shows. How do you feel about the game show being canceled?
