Why Victor Webster Reached Out To Cameron Mathison Before Hallmark Mystery Role
Hallmark Mystery is premiering Reality Bites: A Hannah Swensen Mystery on Thursday, February 6. Victor Webster is back as Chad Norton. This is his third movie in the long-running mystery series that stars Alison Sweeney, Barbara Niven, and Gabriel Hogan.
In a new interview, Victor shared what Cameron Mathison told him before he joined Hannah Swensen. What did Cameron say?
Victor Webster Reached Out To Cameron Mathison Before Taking Hannah Swensen Role
When Cameron Mathison chose to leave Hallmark for Great American Family, Sleuthers were concerned that this would be the end of the Hannah Swensen Mystery series. However, exactly a year ago Victor Webster joined the series. He was not replacing Mathison’s Detective Mike Kingston. Instead, he was portraying Chad Norton, a little-known character from Joanne Fluke’s books. Chad Norton is a prosecutor. Now, Sleuthers see the other side of these mysteries and the need to collect evidence.
However, before he took the role, Victor reached out to his friend Cameron. Earlier this week, Victor Webster spoke to the Hallmark Mysteries & More podcast about joining Alison Sweeney’s long-running mystery series. Podcast host Eric Rutin asked Victor what it was like “being the new guy.” This is when Victor shared the surprising thing he did before accepting the role.
Out of respect, the first thing I did was contact Cameron. And I said ‘Hey brother. They’ve reached out to me and asked me to step in and play this role. I know you’re leaving and going on to pursue other projects. I just wanted to make sure I’m not stepping on your toes in any way, shape, or form. And wanted to reach out to you and just kind see how you’re feeling, and see if I can get your blessing.’
He wrote me back and he obviously was the ultimate gentleman and encouraged me and told me I was going to have an amazing blast and that he was really happy for me.
So, I think that was important for me because I am friends with Cameron to have reached out and have that conversation with him.
Victor’s first movie was One Bad Apple, and now, Reality Bites is his third Hannah Swensen Mystery.

The upcoming Hallmark Mystery Reality Bites: A Hannah Swensen Mystery features two stories. Firstly, there is a reality show filming at The Cookie Jar. However, a murder stops production. Meanwhile, Chad invites Hannah to court to show how important evidence is to wrap up a case.

When Is The Hallmark Mystery Premiere Of Reality Bites?
The premiere of Reality Bites: A Hannah Swensen Mystery is on Thursday, February 6, at 8 p.m., Eastern, on the Hallmark Channel. This movie will be available the next day on Hallmark+. Also, Sleuthers can stream this movie on Peacock up to 72 hours after the premiere.
