‘Scamanda’ Amanda Riley Still Faking Illness In Prison

A new docuseries just started streaming on Hulu called Scamanda. This miniseries tells the story of Amanda Riley, a young woman who faked having cancer to get people to send her money. She denied it for a long time. She even tried to sue the investigative journalist who exposed her. Now, she is serving time in prison, and from the sound of it, she is still faking illnesses.
Here is what Amanda is doing in prison and why she was denied parole.
Scamanda’s Amanda Riley Sent To Prison For Fraud
Amanda Riley, the focus of the new docuseries Scamanda, is serving time in prison for wire fraud. The case was based on her pretending to have cancer to get people to send her money for her treatment. While she was sentenced to 60 months in prison for faking an illness, she seems to be faking a new illness to try to get out.

Amanda pretended that she had an incurable cancer and needed help financially. She said she had Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Claiming to be a strong Christian, she had people in her church and worldwide send her money to help her through this challenging time. She even checked herself into the hospital and shared photos of her with IVs in her.
However, TV producer Nancy Moscatiello began investigating Amanda and learned some harsh truths. She proved that Amanda not only didn’t have cancer but also fabricated the entire story to get money from people. Amanda got a restraining order against Nancy and filed lawsuits, but when she laid out the facts, she was the one going to jail.
Nancy spent years talking to people who knew Amanda and then got the information to a local detective and the IRS. Amanda ended up found guilty of wire fraud and was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison.
Scamanda’s Amanda Riley Still Faking Illnesses In Prison
What is shocking is that Amanda Riley is still faking her illnesses in prison. According to sources, Amanda is claiming she has to get an early release for medical reasons because the prison can’t give her the proper care she needs.
Amanda reportedly filed for an early release while claiming the medical issues were the reason. The board denied her request thanks to the doctors she tried to put one over on (via The U.S. Sun). “they had statements from these different doctors that witnessed her tampering with the tests, holding her breath, taking off heart test monitors and trying to mess up the tests that they were giving her,” Nancy said.
Nancy said this was why the board rejected her petition. She also said that she has spoken to prisoners serving with Amanda, who say she tells anyone who will listen that she has “heart and lung issues” to get sympathy and special treatment.
Amanda was sentenced to 60 months in prison in May 2022 and ordered to pay back the money she defrauded people of. Scamanda airs on Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu.
