‘Bering Sea Gold’ Fans Wonder About Show Status, Was It Cancelled?

Fans are wondering if Bering Sea Gold is cancelled because The Discovery Channel has been quiet about the show’s return. There is also the fact that many people say that there has been nothing filmed so there is not likely to be a new season coming this year.
Here is a look at whether the show was cancelled and what fans can expect from the hit reality TV series.
Will Bering Sea Gold Be Back In 2025?
Bering Sea Gold premiered on The Discovery Channel in 2012 from the creators who developed Deadliest Catch. This show was divided into two seasons. Bering Sea Gold is the summer dredging season that airs in the spring. Under the Ice is the spring dredging season that airs in the fall.

This has resulted in 18 seasons and 169 episodes over the last 13 years. In 2024, BSG S17 aired for 12 episodes, and BGS S18 (ICE) aired 10 episodes. However, there has been no word on a 19th season yet. Furthermore, there was apparently nothing filmed last year to air this year, making some fans think the show has been canceled.
A Reddit thread was created with some fans wondering if the show was finished. The OP wrote, ” I was just wondering if a 19th season has been confirmed or if the show is canceled. The last season came out in August, so I figured the next episode one isn’t far away.”
However, the answer they got was discouraging.
Is Bering Sea Gold Cancelled?
According to the first person to comment on the thread, they revealed that the Discovery Channel has not officially cancelled Bering Sea Gold. However, this doesn’t mean much because it also didn’t cancel Alaskan Bush People, and there hasn’t been a new season of that show in over two years.
The commenter also revealed there was no filming done for a new season in summer 2023. This means the summer dredging season that airs in spring was not filmed, so there won’t be a season airing early this year. Fans will have to wait to see if the show is filmed in the spring dredging season to see if anything might be coming this fall.
Emily Reidel Quit Show
There was also some news that cast members like Emily Riedel initially said the show would be back. However, that has changed. In a new interview, Emily said she “quit Bering Sea Gold,” and fans won’t see her on TV anymore (via Facebook).
With Emily finished and former showrunner Sean Dash also retired, it looks like this might be the end of the reality TV series.
