‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Fans Calling Ryan Seacrest Strange, Why?

Wheel of Fortune host Ryan Seacrest recently became the subject of an online discussion concerning his behavior on the show. Some fans don’t like some of his behavior while hosting, even accusing him of impacting the players. However, he also had a few fans that came to his defense.
Seacrest Joined Wheel Of Fortune For Season 42
Seacrest isn’t a novice when it comes to hosting. Over the years, he’s made a name for himself presenting on American Idol, American Top 40, and even the annual Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve event.
Back in 2023, Seacrest would be announced as the new host of Wheel of Fortune, taking over from Pat Sajak. Seacrest would take over the show in September 2024, with the start of the 42nd season.

Over the years, fans have had mixed reactions to Seacrest in his role on the game show. Taking to Reddit, one fan also pointed out a quirk of Seacrest’s that they had picked up on.
Seacrest Previously Talked About Not Wanting To Change The Show
The fan asked, “Why did Ryan forget to tell the player to dump the wild card after landing on bankrupt?” As they continued, “Ever since Ryan Seacrest took over for Pat Sajak, in recent episodes I’ve been watching, I’ve been discovering that Ryan has been forgetting to remind the player to dump the wild card after landing on bankrupt on tonight’s show.”
The fan discussed a “Teen Best Friends” episode in January 2007 that involved such a wild card. As they noted, when discussing Seacrest, “I’m not sure if he’s been forgetting too much or he’s just being lazy to remind the player.”

Back in 2024, while talking with Good Morning America, Seacrest denied that he had planned to make any changes to the show’s current format. In other words, he wanted to match Sajak’s style as much as possible.
Seacrest shared the advice he uses while hosting the show, “Don’t make any changes. Don’t touch it.” As he noted, “This show works. All I need to do is keep it moving.”
Despite The Critics, Seacrest Also Had His Defenders
“All we need to do is have fun every night. And I think if that’s what happens, this show continues for a long time”
During the same conversation, Seacrest’s co-host Vanna White also noted, “It hasn’t changed. It’s a family show that everyone of all ages watch and enjoy. And they still do. They wanna solve the puzzle.”

On the Reddit post, however, many fans shared various quirks about Seacrest that they picked up on over his time on the show. Some comments included:
- “I think the more annoying thing is when he doesn’t remind them to call a letter before they solve in the last round when time is running out. Lady today lost out on 1500 or so.”
- “I don’t like how he opens the bonus envelope backwards like a piece of paper and he doesn’t read the bonus envelope prize out loud.”
- “I find Ryan to be very self-promoting about his other gigs and his other sponsorship deals in the WOF show.”
- “Oh my god, I hate the way he shows the money and the bonus round. He holds the card up against his chest and builds up the suspense, and it’s 40K. Sad slide whistle.”
That said, some fans came to Seacrest’s defense. Many even compared him favorably to Sajak. At least one fan even noted reminding players the rules of the game too much could give them an unfair advantage. These comments included:
- “I love him. Think he is awesome.”
- “I really enjoy how Ryan hosts the show. He’s enthusiastic and really cheers the contestants on. I never cared for Pat’s snarky comments.”
- “I’d prefer the host not remind people how to play the game. If I’m in the lead and the host reminds another player to guess a letter, and it results in them winning, I’d be pissed. I played the game correctly and didn’t need a reminder.”
