The actress is set to perform at Duke Of York’s Theatre for a production of Sophocles’ Elektra. The story tells of Electra and her brother Orestes seeking to avenge their father Agamemnon’s murder.

A website for the upcoming production released the following synopsis: “Elektra, haunted by her father’s assassination, is consumed by grief; a need for survival; and a thirst for vengeance. When her long lost brother Orestes at last returns, she urges him to a savage and terrifying conclusion but at what cost?”

Larson Described The Rehearsal Process As ‘Rigorous ‘

Ahead of the performance, Larson appeared in a theater dressing room, notably appearing without makeup. However, that wasn’t the only change in Larson’s appearance.

The actress was also now sporting a new buzz cut. On Instagram, Larson wrote, “Made this video to give a taste of what the last few months have been for me as we prepare for our West End debut.”

“I had never been in rigorous rehearsal process, and the play we created is wholly unique. Working with this incredible team of cast and creatives has changed my life! We built this show together and love performing it. We are a lucky bunch!”

“We’re taking a Greek tragedy, these plays didn’t have specific locations and sets. We are kind of honoring that in our own way by doing it in an empty theater along with some other contemporary items like a blimp, we have a revolved — the stage has a circle in it and it turns — and it really allows the performances to eb the thing that you are focused on.”

As noted by People, the cast also includes Stockard Channing, Marième Diouf, Greg Hicks, and Patrick Vaill. Elektra previously ran a pre-run of shows from January 13 to 18. The production’s current run will commence on February 5 and last until April 12.
