Anchor Chuck Todd OUT At NBC News
.”Journalist Chuck Todd is known for his work with NBC. However, news has come out that he is leaving the network. In a lengthy memo where he announced his decision, Todd reflected on his past work and discussed the current state of media.
Chuck Todd Previously Announced His Departure From Meet The Press Back In 2023
Todd is known for serving as a moderator on NBC’s Meet the Press. He also hosted its daily edition, Meet the Press Now.
Todd also served as a political analyst for other programs, including Today and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt. Back in 2023, Todd announced that Kristen Welker would take over his role on Meet the Press, becoming the host in September of that year.
As People noted, Todd recently made an announcement that will mean big changes for the network. On January 31, Todd revealed he will be leaving the network after two decades.
The announcement was shared in a memo sent to NBC News staff. Notably, this comes out around a year and a half following his leave from Meet the Press.
As the memo read, Todd looked back on the changes in his life since joining the network. He noted, “I started as political director in 2007, a month before my son was born and he’ll be graduating high school in a few months,” He also added, “So I guess this means I’ve been here a while.”
Todd admitted, “There’s never a perfect time to leave a place that’s been a professional home for so long.” He also hinted that he was “pretty excited” about “a few new projects.”
The Journalist Teased He’ll Be Working On A Few New Projects
Todd continued, “I do plan to continue to share my reporting and unique perspective of covering politics with data and history as important baselines in understanding where we were, where we are and where we’re going.” It was also shared that he would continue with his podcast series, The Chuck Toddcast.
The journalist highlighted the current state of media, noting a sense of distrust in today’s climate. He noted, “The media has a lot of work to do to win back the trust of viewers/listeners/readers and I’m convinced the best place to start is from the bottom up.”

Ultimately, Todd felt there was only one “way to fix this information eco-system.” As he noted, it “is to stop whining about the various ways the social media companies are manipulating things and instead roll up our collective sleeves and start with local.”
“National media can’t win trust back without having a robust partner locally. And trying to game algorithms is no way to inform and report. People are craving community and that’s something national media or the major social media companies can’t do as well as local media.”
