‘Harpoon Hunters’ Coming To Discovery, Everything To Know

Fans of shows like Deadliest Catch have something new to enjoy. The Discovery Channel has just premiered its latest reality TV fishing series, Harpoon Hunters. This new show takes the action to the waters off New England in the Atlantic Ocean and sees the fishermen hitting the fastest fish in the world.
Here is what you need to know about the new Discovery Channel series.
Harpoon Hunters Coming To Discovery Channel
Harpoon Hunters follows fishermen in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, who search for the elusive Atlantic bluefin tuna. Every summer, they use only 10-foot electrified spears to catch the tuna. The harpoon boats have only four weeks to catch their limit, and each fish is worth as much as $10,000.

“Armed with nothing but a spear and raw determination, these elite harpooners put everything on the line, and it’s immensely thrilling to witness,” said Howard Lee, President of Discovery Networks (via Collider). He also said this was an experience that is like nothing else most people ever experience in life.
Harpoon Hunters premiered on Friday, January 24, on the Discovery Channel. It is also available for streaming on Discovery+ and Max for subscribers.
Harpoon Hunters follows four harpoon kings – Captain Dylan Caldwell, Captain Joe Dion, Captain Tyler Macallister, and Captain Nicholas “Niko” Chaprales.
Chaprales talked about his dad’s legacy as a fisherman. “He was a big part of the aerial survey to disprove the theory that bluefin should be put on the endangered species list. He has done multiple tagging projects with the Division of Fisheries service and New England Aquarium,” Chaprales said (via Fox News). “To have to step into that role and live up a legend like that was a lot of responsibility and pressure. I feel like I definitely gave it everything I have this season.”
Pilgrim Media Group produces Harpoon Hunters for Warner Bros. Discovery. This is the same company behind shows like Wicked Tuna.
