‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Are Livid After An Episode Didn’t Air

On January 20, 2025, Jeopardy! Fans were eager to watch the Champions Wildcard semifinals featuring Drew Goins, Joey DeSena, and Jen Feldman. Drew is a fan favorite due to his strong performance in the Second Chance tournament. Also, he stood out in the Champions Wildcard quarterfinals capturing the attention of viewers. Fans were left disappointed when the episode was preempted across several U.S. networks due to extensive coverage of President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The decision to prioritize the inauguration over the show left fans confused and unsure of why the gameshow didn’t let anyone know ahead of time. Viewers went to Reddit with their frustration, pointing out they had purposefully avoided news about the inauguration so they would not spoil the upcoming episode for themselves. Some fans even said that the show was cut off mid-broadcast which frustrated them even more. As we all can understand the fan’s frustration one fan commented
“I litterally spent all day avoiding the news about the inauguration on for it to f*** my nightly routine and the one thing I was looking forward to.”
Other’s comments are similar, ultimately the fans just feel let down by the preemption and the lack of warning.

Drew Goins Wins Wildcard In Semi-Finals
While fans are highly upset that they did not get to watch the episode as it aired. The episode itself saw Goins continuing his impressive run. Drew got off to a strong start in the opening round, answering 14 clues correctly earning him a $7,200 lead. Goins extended his lead in Double Jeopardy, where he won Daily Double and added $4,000 to his total. This brought his score to $26,800 going into Final Jeopardy. DeSena did answer the final clue correctly, but Goins was already so far ahead and secured his place in the Champions Wildcard finals. Joey DeSEna and Jen Feldman played a good game but just could not secure the win.

The preemption of the episode is a rare event in Jeopardy! Long History, and left many fans and viewers disappointed.
