The Wendy Williams saga remains sad and confusing for fans. Williams did two interviews this week, and it sounds like she did them without conservator Sabrina Morrissey’s knowledge. Now, Wendy’s family, who said Sabrina cut them off from seeing her, is trying to raise money to help get her released from the facility where she lives.

Here is what her family is doing to raise money and how it might not help get Wendy released.

Wendy Williams’ Family Starts GoFundMe To Help Gain Her Freedom

Wendy Williams made some comments in her interviews that have family and fans fearing for her. She mentioned she was moved into a long-term care facility in New York City by her conservator, Sabrina Morrissey. She also noted how her financial fortune disappeared. Finally, she said she wanted to leave and move to Florida to be by her family.

Wendy did the interviews and said that she is not “incapacitated” as Morrissey had her labeled as in the court documents. She also said she can only sit and look out a window at the facility, which she said has people in their 70s, 80s, and 90s there. Wendy was diagnosed with dementia, leading to the court-ordered conservator.

However, after the interviews, where Wendy said she feels she is in “prison” at the facility, her family is fighting for her freedom. Alex Finnie, Wendy’s niece who set up the interviews, has started the GoFundMe for her aunt. She also said she flew to New York to see her aunt, but Sabrina wouldn’t allow it.

Alex started the GoFundMe, with the title, “Support Wendy Williams’ FIght For Independence.” The fundraising campaign states that it is for legal costs to facilitate Wendy’s move from the wellness center to a location closer to her family where she can actually see her loved ones rather than be locked away alone like she is in New York.

The Wendy Williams GoFundMe Has A Nice Start

When Wendy Williams spoke to her longtime friend Don Lemon in an interview, he wondered after they spoke if Sabrina Morrissey felt Wendy’s family was a bad influence in her life. It will be interesting to see what the money from the GoFundMe is used for. Sabrina has an attorney working with her, suing on “Wendy’s behalf” to keep her there, even though Williams said she wants to leave.

The GoFundMe seeks $50,000 for the legal battle as the family has to fight the attorney claiming he represents Williams. So far, there have been 949 donations at this time for $22,935. The GoFundMe raised this money after only four days.
