As noted by Entertainment Weekly, Basso made an appearance on Live With Kelly and Mark. While there, he ended up surprising the hosts with a shocking move.

Basso had appeared this past Thursday to promote the second season of The Night Agent. Walking up to Kelly Ripa, he extended his hand out, intending to shake her hand, while Ripa held out her arms for a hug. She then grabbed his hand before going in for a hug.

Ripa tried to have a sense of humor about the awkward situation. As she noted, “Welcome, hello. We do hugs here. Is that okay? Was that weird?”

This Wasn’t The Only Time Basso’s Politeness Got The Better Of Him

Basso then explained, “No, I just… you’re married, I just wanted to give you a handshake.” Ripa replied, “Well, Mark was going to hug you first, but I wanted to make him feel less weird about it.”

Basso then admitted he missed Consuelos’ attempt at a hug. He then noted, “It’s all good.”

Notably, Basso’s polite nature got the best of him just the day before on another talk show. This past Wednesday, the star appeared on Good Morning America. While there, Basso addressed Lara Spencer as “ma’am.” This caused her to jokingly respond, “Oh, don’t call me ma’am!”

As mentioned, Basso was conducting a series of televised interviews to promote The Night Agent‘s second season. During his appearance on Live, he also discussed a skydiving stunt he performed in Texas to help promote the show.

The second season of The Night Agent will debut on Netflix on January 23. Meanwhile, Live with Kelly and Mark airs in syndication on weekdays.
