‘Today’ Savannah Guthrie Succumbs To Virus, Is She OK?

The Today Show co-anchor, Savannah Guthrie had fans worried after her sudden absence on Thursday. Although she may have been up late on Wednesday to watch her appearance on The Tonight Show, she didn’t make it in the next day. But Craig Melvin carried the torch without her. Reportedly, she has succumbed to a virus. Check out what we know about the situation.
The Today Show Shake-Up
Undoubtedly, many fans missed seeing Savannah Guthrie on The Today Show on January 16. Without a doubt, the show has had a big week with Craig Melvin taking the reins after Hoda Kotb’s exit. But Savannah’s absence shook it up even more after she was taken down by a virus.

Savannah Guthrie Succumbs To Virus, Is She OK?
Thankfully, The Today Show host, Savannah Guthrie has made a rapid recovery. However, the past twenty-four-plus hours were rough for her and her family. When she came back to the set on Friday, January 17, Savannah gave Craig Melvin a heads-up that the norovirus had “blazed” through their house.

Notably, it wasn’t pleasant for Savannah Guthrie, her husband, Michael Feldman, and kids, Vale, 10, and Charley, 8, as it tore through. But Savannah’s Instagram shows the biometric aftermath of the highly contagious virus. She added a screenshot of her Oura Ring which warned, “Your biometrics show major signs of something straining your body.” As if she wasn’t already aware something was up, Savannah added text that she had, “Then succumbed to the norovirus blazing through” her house.

Norovirus Is No Joke
Anyone who has experienced norovirus knows it can be awful. Unfortunately, it is usually accompanied by “Diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, stomach pain” according to the CDC.gov website. Although “tummy bug” might make it seem innocent, it can also be accompanied by “Fever, headache, and body aches.” Much like Savannah Guthrie’s Instagram photo, people who have been through it know it wreaks havoc on the gastrointestinal system and makes the harborer feel terrible.

Seemingly, the worst symptoms are during the first 24-48 hours. According to the CDC, people “can still spread norovirus for 2 weeks or more after you feel better.” Lots of handwashing and disinfecting are needed to avoid the spread. Sadly, as a virus, it just has to run its course. But thankfully, Savannah is back on her feet and good to go again. Lightheartedly, Savannah jokes, “I know what you’re thinking, that after three days of Craig, she decided to bail.” Hopefully, she doesn’t give Craig Melvin an unwelcome present during the first week of his promotion.
It is great news Savannah Guthrie is feeling better! Have you battled norovirus before? What do you think of the first week of the “Craig Era” on The Today Show? Drop your comments below.
